At half past eleven at night, Wang Jinjun sat inside the hearse.

"Miss Wang, we've arrived at Huangling Funeral Home. Would you like to get out first? Then we can move Mr. Zi..." The driver hadn't finished speaking before Wang Jinjun interrupted him, "Zi Jin won't die. Please, just give me more time... he won't die..."

The driver and staff exchanged glances and sighed. Such scenes had played out here too many times before. They merely saw Wang Jinjun as another pitiful soul overwhelmed by grief, so they left her alone for a while, giving her space to be with her loved one.

No one noticed that, despite the sorrow in Wang Jinjun's beautiful eyes, there was not a trace of worry.

After more than ten minutes, the staff returned, ready to move the body. Just as they reached out to touch the shroud, Wang Jinjun slapped their hand away.

"I said, he won't die," her face grew colder as she spoke in a low voice, "Nobody touch him."

The staff member grew annoyed. "Don't be unreasonable. We've already given you time to say goodbye to your boyfriend. Now, if you won't let us move him, how are we supposed to explain this? Do you really want your boyfriend left exposed in the wilderness? Step aside! You know interfering with our work could land you with an obstruction charge. Don't make things difficult!"

Still, Wang Jinjun didn't move. She stood her ground, shielding Zi Jin behind her. The driver, his expression hardening, barked, "So you're still here holding us up? Listen, don't waste our time!"

He reached out to push Wang Jinjun aside and move the shrouded body.

A pair of pale hands seized the driver's wrist.

"Enough. Are you finished yet?" A hoarse voice sounded from behind Wang Jinjun. The pale, naked corpse sat upright. "Bullying a young woman—what does that prove?"

The driver glimpsed the face of the one who grabbed him and instantly turned ashen. He tore free from Zi Jin's grasp and bolted, not daring to look back.

"A ghost! It's a ghost!" The staff shrieked like pigs being butchered. Within a minute, only Wang Jinjun and Zi Jin, sitting in the body bag, remained at the dim entrance of the funeral home.

Wang Jinjun looked at Zi Jin, tears brimming in her eyes. "You bastard! Do you know you nearly left me behind? Don't ever scare me like this again!" She threw her arms around him and kissed him.

Zi Jin hadn't even managed to reply before warmth spread through his mouth. His heart raced, and the pallor of his face was suddenly replaced by a healthy blush. Even though they'd been together for years, Wang Jinjun had always kept her distance—never once had they been so close. Now, her sudden embrace left Zi Jin flustered, unsure where to place his hands and feet.

After a short while, Wang Jinjun released him, tears still streaking her face. Her shy, reddened cheeks stunned Zi Jin; Wang Jinjun was already a beauty, but now, with embarrassment coloring her features, she looked even more enchanting.

It was only then that Wang Jinjun realized Zi Jin was completely unclothed. She spun around with a startled cry. "You—you were supposed to be dead! How are you alive again? You made me worry myself sick..." She stole a glance back, and only then noticed all of Zi Jin's wounds had vanished.

Zi Jin, too, was surprised at his condition. He forced a bitter smile. "My dear, I have no idea what's going on either. Let me explain everything once we're home, alright? But for now, can you at least find me something decent to wear? Otherwise, how am I supposed to go back?"

Wang Jinjun hurriedly rummaged through the car and found a funeral home uniform for Zi Jin to slip on. Zi Jin said nothing, merely smiled and took her hand as they headed home together.

In the woods behind the hearse, a shadow flickered, muttering under its breath, "So, it has come to this after all..."
