Tushan Xi walked over to Xiyun’s side and checked her pulse, her expression growing increasingly grave. After a long while, she finally withdrew her hand, worry clouding her voice. “This young lady has lost a great deal of blood, and her spiritual energy is also severely depleted. She must be nursed with utmost care, or her cultivation may suffer in the future.”

Qingyuan nodded with little concern. “Understood, Senior Sister.”

Seeing his indifferent attitude, Tushan Xi dared not entrust the girl to his care. What if he ended up doing her more harm than good? With that in mind, she spoke up, “Qingyuan, until this young lady wakes, how about I tend to her myself?”

“That won’t do!”

“Oh?” Tushan Xi looked at Qingyuan, surprised at his abruptness. “Why are you so anxious?”

Reminded by her question, Qingyuan coughed twice and regained his usual composure. “I meant to say, Senior Sister, you’ve only just awakened yourself and are even weaker. As for Xiyun…”

He glanced at the half-conscious Xiyun, his gaze devoid of much feeling. “I’ll handle it.”

His senior sister’s medical skills were beyond doubt, and saving Xiyun would be child’s play for her. But if Xiyun survived and spoke of things she shouldn’t, his reputation in his senior sister’s eyes would be ruined! He absolutely could not let that happen.

“So that’s what worries you,” Tushan Xi replied with a gentle smile. “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”

Seeing he was about to protest again, Tushan Xi cut him off. “Qingyuan, are you planning to disobey your senior sister’s orders?”

Qingyuan took a deep breath. “I wouldn’t dare.”

Seeing him yield, Tushan Xi grew even more pleased. “Good. I sense the aura of the Nine-Tailed Fox on this young lady as well. Since she is of our clan, I cannot stand idly by. Quickly, lay her down—I must treat her wounds.”

“Senior Sister, this place is a bit inconvenient. I’ve already prepared a secluded haven nearby for you. Perhaps I should take you there first?”

Tushan Xi thought for a moment and agreed.

Soon, the two arrived at an unfamiliar floating island. “Senior Sister, this is the dwelling I’ve prepared for you. Besides the house itself, there’s a large plot of land. You may grow as many medicinal herbs as you like.”

Tushan Xi’s eyes lit up at this, her previous indifference vanishing. She nodded approvingly. “Qingyuan, you’ve done well in this regard.”

“As long as Senior Sister is pleased.” With that, he accompanied her on a tour of the area before reluctantly taking his leave, reminding her that his own abode was close by and she could come to him with anything she needed.

Tushan Xi nodded, still wearing her polite smile. “I understand.”

Once Qingyuan had finally left, the smile instantly faded from Tushan Xi’s face. She closed the door to her cave and set a protective ward, then made her way toward Xiyun.

At last, the system, which had been silent until now, spoke up. “Host, you performed excellently just now. The male lead didn’t suspect a thing.”

Unfazed by its praise, Tushan Xi nodded. “You said I couldn’t break character, and I remembered.”

“You’re amazing, Host!” the system cheered, then added, “Now, let’s hurry and check on the female lead.”

“Alright.”

Entering the bedroom, Tushan Xi once again checked Xiyun’s pulse. After confirming her condition, she wrote out a prescription and sent a message to Qingyuan, asking him to gather the necessary herbs.

Once all was prepared, she sat quietly by the bedside, continuing to pore over the script of this world, searching for her opportunity to break through.

Under Tushan Xi’s careful care, Xiyun finally awoke on the third day of her coma.

She opened her eyes and stared at the unfamiliar yet oddly familiar ceiling above her. After a moment’s confusion, she fished through her memories and realized where the sense of familiarity came from.

Wasn’t this the sanctuary Qingyuan Immortal had built especially for his senior sister? Every item here, from the bed to the tiniest teacup, was a rare treasure he had scoured the heavens and earth to find. Any one of them could fetch tens of thousands of spirit stones on the market.

She remembered the last time she’d mistakenly entered this place and been discovered by Qingyuan, he hadn’t even given her a chance to explain before throwing her out. If she hadn’t been quick enough to grab a nearby tree, she would have plummeted from the thirty-third heaven and been smashed to pieces.

The mere thought of it sent a chill through her.

No, no—if Qingyuan found her again, she’d be done for.

With this in mind, she tried to sit up, her hands trembling. But as soon as she moved, the wound at her chest flared with pain, and her vision went dark.

“Ugh…”

Tushan Xi, carrying medicinal herbs and just arriving at the door, heard the faint cry and hurried her steps.

Entering the room, she saw Xiyun’s upper body suspended dangerously off the bed, as if she’d tumble off at the slightest misstep.

“Don’t move—lie down and rest,” she said.

Hearing the woman’s voice, Xiyun struggled to look up, her dark eyes brightening for a brief moment.

What a beautiful priestess.

Before she could think further, the lovely priestess had already set the herbs down on the bedside cabinet and gently helped her back onto the bed.

“Cough, cough… Who are you?”

“My name is Tushan Xi,” the woman replied, busy checking Xiyun’s wound. She didn’t notice how Xiyun’s eyes abruptly dimmed upon hearing her name.

Xiyun lowered her gaze, staring at Tushan Xi’s anxious, caring face, her heart filled with a sense of absurdity. So… this was Tushan Xi? The one Qingyuan had traded his own life to save? She was so beautiful—no wonder Qingyuan could never forget her.

Xiyun couldn’t help but mutter inwardly, then deliberately shifted her body to prevent Tushan Xi from examining her injury. Who knew what Tushan Xi might do to her?

Tushan Xi was momentarily taken aback by her behavior, but when she saw Xiyun turn her face away as if unwilling to even look at her, she quickly deduced the reason.

It seemed Xiyun resented her for having used her blood.

With that in mind, Tushan Xi tucked the blanket gently around her, then retreated a few steps to put some distance between them.

“Young lady, my name is Tushan Xi. You needn’t be afraid—I’m here to heal you.”

After a brief hesitation, Xiyun turned to look at her and asked, “Do you know who I am?”

Tushan Xi shook her head. “I do not. When I awoke, I found you bound to a wooden frame. I asked Qingyuan, but he told me nothing.”

“He said nothing?”

“That’s right. So, would you care to tell me what happened? I see you’re also of the Nine-Tailed Fox clan. As am I—we are kin. If you’ve suffered any injustice, just tell me. I swear I’ll find a way to avenge you.”

Hearing this, Xiyun eyed her with suspicion. Seeing only sincerity on Tushan Xi’s face, she tentatively asked, “Truly?”

“Truly.”

“If the one who wronged me was Qingyuan Immortal himself, would you still seek justice for me?”

At the mention of “Qingyuan,” Tushan Xi’s pupils contracted in shock, as if she could not believe her ears.

When she said nothing for a long time, Xiyun smirked bitterly and closed her eyes, unwilling to look at her any longer. All those grand promises, and when it came to her own people, she fell silent.

Just as her hope faded, Tushan Xi’s voice rang out again, firm and clear. “If it truly is Qingyuan, I will make sure you receive justice.”
