038 The Rune Sword!

Epic Refining Stones are the rarest in the game; they represent the highest tier of refining stones, with nothing above them except Legendary Refining Stones. Any orange-grade equipment isn’t obtained casually—it must be acquired through quests or special means. Refining stones alone cannot produce legendary gear. While crafting can yield legendary items, no matter the method, the chance never exceeds 25%. Even incorporating a single legendary piece into the mix raises the chance to only about 10%. Without legendary equipment involved, even the best plans yield no more than a 3% chance. When using dark gold and legendary materials together, the probability fluctuates significantly; Morning Breeze recalls the chance can spike to 25%, which is the highest chance for obtaining legendary gear.
In fact, recently Morning Breeze has acquired Silver Flash and Golden Refining Stones—both very rare. Yet, worldwide, they’re relatively easier to find. Now that Morning Breeze is somewhat wealthy, paying a high price to secure them is no problem.
Upgrading the Rune Sword from Fine to Silver Flash grants a maximum 75% success rate; to Golden, 60%; and to Epic, 50%. The first attempt to boost the Rune Sword to Silver Flash failed, costing Morning Breeze 5,000 gold coins. Fortunately, he had purchased two Silver Flash Refining Stones, allowing him to eventually succeed. The upgrade to Golden succeeded on the first try, much to Morning Breeze’s relief, since finding another Golden Refining Stone is quite difficult.
As for upgrading to Epic, Morning Breeze had not attempted it until now, fully aware of how precious Epic Refining Stones are. Selling an Epic Refining Stone now would fetch over 50,000 gold coins, but such stones are scarce with no market demand. Finding another would be nearly impossible.
In the end, Morning Breeze took the plunge and upgraded the Rune Sword to Epic level, succeeding on his 50-50 chance.

Description: Some are destined to meet death!
Originally, the Rune Sword required level 20 to wield. Upgrading to Silver Flash raised the requirement to 25; Golden, 30; and now Epic demands level 35. Morning Breeze is uncertain if reaching Legendary level will push the requirement to 40, which would be disappointing, as he needs a Rune Sword suitable for level 60 attributes.
Having now upgraded it to Epic, Morning Breeze wonders if using it as a crafting material might help reach Legendary status. He dares only to hope for Legendary; the elusive artifact tier—even incomplete artifacts—remains beyond his imagination. Such things are reserved for extraordinary players.
The basic stats of this Rune Sword are mediocre at best. However, its special effects are excellent, making it well-suited for arena combat. Morning Breeze rarely engaged in the arena before, choosing weapons primarily based on damage and damage-boosting effects—ideal for killing. But the arena demands precision kills and survival, where the Rune Sword excels.
Morning Breeze gathered plenty of rune materials, even bringing out previously held dark gold materials like Ghost Deer Antlers and orange materials like Diamonds. Combining these with the Rune Sword and possibly the Orichalcum Axe, he wondered about the chance of crafting orange-grade equipment. He roughly calculated the cost: if he found suitable rune materials and paired them with auxiliary dark gold and orange materials, his crafting attempt would cost up to 400,000 gold coins. Dark gold and orange materials alone accounted for 200,000 gold, with several purple materials and refining stones making up the rest. This didn’t even factor in whether he dared to include the Orichalcum Axe.
Outrales had secretly left to level up with that Shadow Priest. Morning Breeze warned Yin to be cautious. Unexpectedly, Yin advised Morning Breeze to watch that Shadow Priest closely, suspecting she’s one of the three great dark classes capable of advancing to god-tier professions—a tremendously powerful player.
“Yin, you and her can both ascend to god-tier? What are the three great dark classes? I’ve never heard of them.” Having played for two years, Morning Breeze felt ignorant hearing about unknown concepts. He’d heard of Yin but assumed he had a simple stealth class, unaware that stealth classes could advance to god-tier. The phrase “stealth class is the favored one” now made sense.
“My class is the Necromancer. If I transform into a full undead, my power will increase by one tier. Completing nine major class tasks will allow me to advance to god-tier. I don’t know how strong god-tier is, but I doubt I’ll reach it. The tasks are extremely difficult,” Yin explained, sensing Morning Breeze’s ignorance but surprised at how he assumed knowledge of everything. Morning Breeze was skilled but not omniscient.
“Tough tasks? Let me try! I want to see a god-tier class.” Morning Breeze was intrigued despite knowing the difficulty. As a dual-specialization class, not stealth, he wasn’t sure how to even begin hidden class quests, having never explored them thoroughly.
When Yin showed him screenshots of the nine tasks, Morning Breeze was shocked. Currently, Yin’s only available quest was to collect materials, starting with gathering five white gold coins—a costly endeavor.
“Yin, I have some white gold coins but need to use them for now. I’ll give you some when I have extras.” Morning Breeze felt his curiosity was costly. He knew Yin’s tasks required white gold coins. Having just obtained three coins, Yin’s sharing the quest details was a clear hint.
“I thought you’d hoard them forever. Give me any extra white gold coins, and I’ll exchange them for gold coins. I’m poor, but installment payments should be fine.” Yin was indeed broke, with at most 100 gold coins. All his gold went into undead experiments—extremely tough quests.

Sure enough! Morning Breeze suspected Yin would ask for white gold coins but was unsure how to approach it. Asking about his class quests risked losing those five white gold coins. He felt he’d overstepped.
Morning Breeze knew Yin had not yet become god-tier, nor had he seen anyone achieve it. Perhaps it was rare knowledge. Now he wondered if he himself had a chance at god-tier.
“That Shadow Priest called Sand Beach is a Dark Word Caster with strong burst potential but weak early game. Even now, she can’t match Outrales. Besides, with me here, he won’t dare attack Outrales. After all, she knows I know her class,” Yin said, well-versed in dark classes as one of the supreme three major classes. “Outrales wants me on his team. What do you think?”
“You helped him this time. Knowing your connection and strong class, he’ll want you as a free enforcer. Don’t think joining his team is glamorous. If you have powerful gear, he might kill you for it. Without a magic ring, you’d just be a hired muscle and bodyguard.” Morning Breeze, familiar with Outrales, knew his intentions. “But I’ll tell you, his team is strong. Outrales is capable and will help you with quests in time. For now, as his free muscle, when you tell him about that woman and god-tier classes, make sure to ask for a white gold coin as payment.”
“Get a white gold coin just to share that info? Impossible. That’s worth 50,000 gold coins!” Yin was nervous, hardly believing he could gain white gold coins from such information.
“Money isn’t scarce in that team. As a poor guy, you’ll be muscle, bodyguard, or a data collector.” Morning Breeze knew Outrales and Stan were wealthy—Outrales backed by a guild, Stan by a wealthy family. With Outrales’ intellect and resources, money was easy to come by, and Stan’s skills made earning straightforward. Without early financial gains, Morning Breeze wouldn’t have been able to join their ranks.
Yin understood this meant he was just a poor nobody. Morning Breeze or Monk usually paid for tavern visits or potions, which explained Yin’s rapid leveling.
“Looks like I’m doomed to be a loser. I’ll be a bodyguard then!” Yin resigned himself, seeing this as a chance to grow wealthy gradually with the team.
Morning Breeze didn’t want to say more. Without his rebirth knowledge, he’d likely be in Yin’s position, struggling even to become their hired muscle.
He asked Outrales to post a call for rune material collection and had Stan help with calculations. Now, Morning Breeze planned to focus on leveling. He no longer intended to venture into the large map, preferring to battle spirits within the China server. If anyone wanted to kill him, they’d surely hire local killers, but Morning Breeze wasn’t afraid of that.
