What if I kill you?
Where is he?
The moment Morning Breeze suddenly transformed into a humanoid wild leopard, Storm Dragon instantly sensed trouble. Judging from Morning Breeze’s reaction just now, he must have anticipated an attack—otherwise, how could he have shifted forms and gone into stealth the instant he was assaulted?
Bloody Chain Strike!
Storm Dragon, a berserker, was more fragile than Divine War Tianyi, and his equipment was notably inferior. But unlike Tianyi, Storm Dragon had been vigilant from the start. When Morning Breeze struck with a sneak attack, Storm Dragon immediately used Heroic Leap to dodge. But how could Morning Breeze let him escape? He crashed into him head-on, unleashing another round of skills.
Switch to shield—Shield Wall!
Storm Dragon’s dueling experience was considerable. He noticed that Morning Breeze had just unleashed a skill, and his own health had already been halved. After leaping away, he instantly swapped to his shield and activated Shield Wall to withstand Morning Breeze’s assault. His reaction was indeed swift, but Morning Breeze didn’t attack right after charging; instead, he circled behind and executed a Backstab, dragging Storm Dragon’s health down, storing up three combo points, and then unleashed the ultimate skill—Crushing Bone. Both claws pierced Storm Dragon’s back. (Back attacks bypass 60% of Shield Wall’s damage immunity.)
Frenzied Recovery!
Storm Dragon truly lived up to his position as vice president; his reflexes were razor-sharp. Before Morning Breeze’s ultimate skill landed, he activated Frenzied Recovery, restoring 30% of his maximum health—just enough to survive the onslaught.
“You dare kill me? The Storm Guild will never forgive you!” Storm Dragon was panicking now. Morning Breeze’s assault and close-combat prowess were overwhelming, and his own health was down to a sliver—he couldn’t hold out much longer. Since he’d jumped away in his escape, he’d been separated from Wild Boar and Iron Barrel; they were too far to help him now.
“And what if I do kill you? Since you dared try to kill me, why shouldn’t I return the favor? Log off for me!” Morning Breeze unleashed a Rending Claw Strike right to Storm Dragon’s face, wiping out his last bit of health.
Morning Breeze picked up Storm Dragon’s dropped loot and glanced at it—sure enough, there was a white gold coin.
“You killed our vice president and now you want to walk away? Hand over that white gold coin!” Storm Wild Boar came charging in, ready to attack. But Morning Breeze had already activated Primal Displacement, slipping into stealth and vanishing.
“What’s going on?” Cheng Xue saw Storm Dragon’s name go gray and thought the Divine War Guild had broken through, but there wasn’t a Divine War player in sight. She was at a loss.
“Damn it, Vice President Xue, your Jungle King just killed our vice president and made off with a white gold coin.” Storm Iron Barrel, the barbarian warrior, wasn’t as reckless as his looks suggested; this time he tried to accuse the victim first.
“Haha…” Morning Breeze’s laughter echoed from stealth. “What do you mean ‘he killed your vice president’? You can check the party log to see who struck first. You tried to loot my white gold coin and the magic ring and failed, and now you play the victim after I killed you!”
Storm Wild Boar turned shameless. “You tried to ambush us, so we struck first out of self-defense. Either way, Vice President Xue, today you owe the Storm Guild an explanation.”
“Log off and go explain to your ancestors!” Without hesitation, Morning Breeze crept up behind Storm Wild Boar and unleashed a Bloody Chain Strike. Caught completely off guard, Storm Wild Boar was instantly killed.
Without stopping, Morning Breeze made a quick getaway. With so many Storm Guild players around, it would be trouble if they closed in on him. Activating Wind Serpent Step and then Sprint, Morning Breeze fled at a speed none could match. Earlier, Wild Boar’s attack had marked Morning Breeze, making it easier to track him down. Now that Wild Boar was dead, there was no such risk.
Out of combat, Morning Breeze transformed into a crow and flew to a safe spot to observe the boss fight. With both Vice President Storm Dragon and Elite Team One’s leader Wild Boar slain, the Storm Guild players broke into chaos—no one was in the mood for the Wind Serpent King anymore. At that moment, players from Divine War, Nightfall, and the Zephyr Guild charged in. They didn’t care for explanations; they attacked on sight, clearing out the players from both guilds before turning their attention to the boss.
“Xue, keep focusing on the boss—I’ll lure them away!” The Wind Serpent King couldn’t be allowed to fall into enemy hands; Morning Breeze felt he owed it to Frost Snow Guild. Having drawn enough aggro, he was confident in pulling the enemy players away. Compared to the magic ring, what was the boss worth?
As a crow, Morning Breeze swooped out, shouting, “The magic ring is with me—if you want it, come and get it!”
He took off immediately, leading his pursuers into an area thick with wind serpents. The monsters here were level 28; if the enemy chased him and ignored the serpents, they’d be in real danger.
As expected, Morning Breeze’s aggro was off the charts. Not only Divine War, but even Nightfall and Zephyr players were chasing him down. With the magic ring at stake, the field boss meant nothing.
Divine War, Nightfall, and Zephyr all lost players fighting their way into Wind Serpent Valley; at the altar, clearing out the serpents cost them more. Their numbers were dwindling. To take down Morning Breeze and loot the magic ring, they’d need to surround him with overwhelming force—otherwise, they stood no chance. And with so many high-level wind serpents around, too few players would be overrun.
“Our leader says: whoever retrieves the magic ring gets 30,000 gold!” Dawn of Divine War announced a staggering bounty, driving his guild wild.
“Everyone who joins the hunt tonight gets at least 5 gold, with extra compensation for losses. Whoever gets the magic ring, 30,000 gold instantly—plus 10,000 gold for each team member.” Nightfall’s leader, Lightless Night, was even more generous, going all in for the ring.
“With the magic ring in hand, the tournament championship is ours!” The Zephyr Guild, having a pro team background, motivated its fans with simple encouragement and a promise of rewards—not as lavish as the other guilds, but their fans, having joined for their idol guild, were eager to fight and cared little for gold.
Zephyr’s leader, Zephyr Shangguan, was no pro gamer himself, but with plenty of experience and contact with pros, he recognized Morning Breeze’s intentions immediately: he was trying to lure them away so the other two guilds could keep fighting the boss. Facing a three-guild manhunt alone—Morning Breeze was either insanely skilled or incredibly bold. But his confidence meant he believed he could escape unscathed—because he carried the magic ring.
Divine War Tianyi had the ring, but hadn’t stored it in the bank, so it must be unbankable—only carried on one’s person, unless left with an alt. Otherwise, if killed outside, it would drop. Zephyr Shangguan also knew that this ring, in addition to being the only scattered artifact in China, had another property: it could be fused. Unlike other equipment fusion, this ring had a 100% fusion rate—one could add whatever attributes they wished, depending on the ring chosen.
Bloody Chain Strike!
With his current epic weapon, Morning Breeze could instantly kill at the opening blow. He struck with a brutal Bloody Chain Strike, instantly killing an elven hunter, then used Primal Displacement to escape. If Morning Breeze transformed into a crow and stayed airborne, he’d be safe, but that couldn’t keep aggro for long—if the three guilds couldn’t attack him, they’d go back to fighting the boss.
After making his escape, Morning Breeze discovered that not only the three guilds, but even Storm Guild had joined the chase. His former allies had become hunters—Storm Guild really was despicable. It was clear now: their alliance with Frost Snow Guild was mostly due to the abundance of female players, not actual strength.
“The magic ring is mine—anyone who wants it will have to fight for their life!”
Morning Breeze reveled in this thrill, keeping his senses razor-sharp—a perfect way to hone his psychic abilities. Now, he felt like the blood dragon again, weaving deftly among the major guilds.
Wind Serpent Valley was teeming with serpents, and their aggro was linked. Finding Morning Breeze wouldn’t be easy. For now, he had the advantage, but it was temporary—if discovered, he’d likely be killed swiftly. The Shapeshifter class could tank a bit in bear form, but not for long; its anti-ambush capabilities were poor, so he couldn’t survive prolonged pursuit.
Seal form!
After his seventh kill, a hunter tagged him. Hiding in stealth was no longer an option. Morning Breeze dove into the lake, morphing into a seal to hide. At least in the water, they’d have a tough time finding him.
The lake was only about the size of two football fields—a mere leveling spot in the scene, with plenty of level 28 creatures: giant turtles, crocodiles, and all kinds of fish. As a seal, Morning Breeze could avoid them, but the other guild members couldn’t. In water, their combat skills dropped drastically, especially casters and hunters—attacking underwater was nearly impossible.
“Morning Breeze, the Wind Serpent King is down!” Cheng Xue messaged. Without hesitation, Morning Breeze swam to the far shore, shifted to wild leopard form, entered stealth, and began channeling his hearthstone to town.
They hadn’t expected him to escape so soon—with player numbers thinned and so many aggro-linked wind serpents around, protecting the lake was impossible. In the end, Morning Breeze made it back to town safely.
The magic ring! Upon returning, Morning Breeze dashed to Frost Snow Guild’s vault. Last time, he’d gotten an epic ring from the alliance’s treasury, but due to class restrictions, he’d never used it. Now he could use it to enhance the magic ring, boosting its attributes.
