062 Slaughter!
“Trash of the Windchasers, I, Duan Chenfeng, have returned! Come and take the Demon Ring if you dare!”
After killing the healer “Windchaser Ashe,” Chenfeng’s actions left no doubt of his fury. An enraged berserker is a terrifying sight—Chenfeng commanded the little Demon Wyvern to unleash Black Hole and Withering Decay, immobilizing all the professional Windchaser players surrounding the Two-Headed Wyvern, their health steadily draining.
Recklessness! The Skeleton Battle Standard! God’s Descent!
“All of you, die for me!” Chenfeng activated God Mode, not giving them a moment to use defensive skills or buy time—he simply rained destruction upon them. The Windchaser King could only watch helplessly, not daring to step into the Black Hole’s range, lest he be frozen too. His friend, Windchaser Hunt, managed to leap away just before the little wyvern cast its skill; otherwise, he’d have been immobilized as well.
In less than three seconds, five professional Windchaser players were dead at the hands of Chenfeng and the Two-Headed Wyvern. The wyvern, regarded as a boss-level creature, was immune to such control effects and health-draining skills. Though it harbored aggro, Chenfeng’s threat level was nothing compared to the Windchaser King and Hunt; the beast turned its attention to them, flying straight over.
Intercept!
“Trying to escape? Think again!” Chenfeng charged forward, but the Windchaser King swapped to his shield and blocked the attack, avoiding damage and the stun, then quickly leapt back. Just as he landed, Chenfeng struck with a Shockwave, stunning him on the spot.
Selfishness!
As a human, the Windchaser King possessed the racial talent Selfishness, which allowed him to remove any effect that rendered him unable to move or control his actions. He knew full well that allowing Chenfeng to close in would mean certain doom. He might dismiss the Undead Warlock Yin, but he would never underestimate Chenfeng. His instincts screamed that Chenfeng was an extraordinary foe—under normal circumstances, he might be able to put up a fight, but not now.
Chenfeng’s arrival had completely reversed the situation. Yin now felt his presence almost laughable; he had thought to trouble the Windchaser team, yet they barely noticed him. Had Chenfeng not arrived in time, he would likely have been killed. Still, he had played his part, at least preventing the Windchaser team from taming the Two-Headed Wyvern.
Heroic Leap!
Heroic Leap!
As the Windchaser King freed himself from the stun and jumped away, Chenfeng mirrored his trajectory, leaping after him. Because Chenfeng used his skill later, he would land in time to blast the King. However, the Windchaser King anticipated this, turned at the moment of landing, weathered Chenfeng’s assault, and swung his greatsword at Chenfeng’s legs.
Hamstring!
This warrior skill slowed the target by 50%. If a weapon warrior had the Hamstring passive, using it again could root the target in place. But with God’s Descent active, Chenfeng ignored all movement restrictions. The Windchaser King had no idea Chenfeng possessed the God’s Descent talent, since he’d never entered the Trial Tower.
Disarm!
“How can this be?” The Windchaser King, thinking he’d succeeded, tried to retreat, only to find Chenfeng’s speed unhindered. With a quick step, the Brotherhood Sword struck his wrist, knocking his greatsword to the ground. Disarm forced enemies to drop both main and off-hand weapons, but the maneuver was notoriously difficult to execute.
Bloodthirst!
Disarmed, the Windchaser King was defenseless. He tried to evade Chenfeng’s attacks, but Chenfeng’s angles were too cunning to dodge.
“Remember this!” The King tried every evasive maneuver, but Chenfeng knew he favored dodging left and anticipated him, landing a Whirlwind Blow with his off-hand and killing him on the spot. Windchaser Hunt had already fled—the Two-Headed Wyvern could never catch an elf hunter skilled in escape.
Yin had once more summoned his Skeletal Warriors to hold off the wyvern. Chenfeng seized the opportunity to attempt taming it. With its health below 10%, the process was easier; after one failure, he succeeded.
[Two-Headed Wyvern]: Divine Beast. A mutated divine beast from the age of ancient dinosaurs, possessed of immense destructive power, its attacks ignore 50% of the target’s defense. Attack Aptitude: 1600, Defense Aptitude: 1500, Constitution: 6500, Mana: 2000, Speed: 1300. Inherent Skills: [Twin Bite], [Ground Stomp], [Furious Roar], [Bloodlust].
This wyvern’s stats rivaled the Ghostly Rhino in humanoid form; two of its four skills were devastating offensives, the other two, powerful support abilities. Besides these, the wyvern could learn four additional passive skills, and Chenfeng already had some in mind.
With the wyvern, Chenfeng now had four pets—any non-hunter player could have up to eight. When the world map opened and regional wars began, both the strength and the number of pets would decisively influence battle outcomes.
“Let’s go help Monk!” Monk was already calling for help in the party channel—if they didn’t hurry, he’d be wiped out. Chenfeng recalled the little Demon Wyvern and summoned the Two-Headed Wyvern instead. As a temporary flying mount, Chenfeng leaped onto its back and soared toward Monk, leaving Yin to run after them.
More and more players from the Divine War Guild were arriving; Monk and Berserk could only harass the periphery. Without the tenacity and explosive power of the Dark Crocodile, they’d have lost it long ago.
“The Starry Guild is coming—tame the divine beast, quickly!” Alarmed, Divine War players saw a large group from the Starry Guild approaching. With their pro background, if their pros arrived, things would get complicated.
“Damn, it’s that damned Monk again—kill him!” Just as a hunter was about to tame the Dark Crocodile, Monk rolled in twice, interrupting the tame with a throwing skill and sending the beast into another rage.
The Starry Guild had only about thirty players, but they showed no fear despite being outnumbered by more than three to one; they charged in immediately. Chenfeng and his wyvern descended and joined the fray. As a divine beast, the wyvern needed no leveling—it was already five levels higher than Chenfeng and could fight right away.
“Damn it, Bastard Wind, you’re late—the Starry Guild is here!” Monk was unsure if he could still tame the croc; the guild had brought two pro hunters and a paladin healer, making the beast all but lost.
“Bastard Monk, tame the beast quickly—I can only buy you some time!” Chenfeng and the Starry Guild players attacked the Divine War Guild together, both sides recognizing their alliance and refraining from fighting each other. The divine beast would only be contested once the Divine War Guild was dealt with.
So far, eight divine beasts had appeared on Green Dragon Hill. Chenfeng had tamed the Two-Headed Wyvern; the other seven were still being fought over. The major guild alliance that had earlier besieged Chenfeng for the Demon Ring had splintered, their members scattered in pursuit of the beasts. The Starry Guild had arrived late, but thanks to Monk’s delaying tactics, they made it in time.
“Duan Chenfeng, your reputation precedes you; you are indeed a master!” A player drew near, game ID “Dazzling Starlight,” an elf hunter, who made no hostile move, opting instead for casual conversation.
Though Chenfeng had never met this tall and striking hunter, he knew of him—captain of the Starry Team, expert in ranged kiting and surprisingly formidable in melee, a true all-rounder. Many believed hunters were easy to play but hard to master; Dazzling Starlight, however, played with effortless multi-tasking.
“Why not do me a favor and let us have the beast?” Chenfeng, surprised by the captain’s friendly demeanor, replied in jest.
Dazzling Starlight, not expecting such directness, smiled, “You already have a powerful Two-Headed Wyvern—let us have this one, won’t you?”
“Since neither side will yield, let’s settle this with strength!” Chenfeng had no intention of making enemies over the beast—his side was outnumbered, facing three professional players. It was not a trivial matter.
Since they hadn’t attacked him for his Demon Ring, Chenfeng saw no need to provoke them further. Clearly, the Microdust Team only wanted the beast, not his ring.
“Bastard Wind, keep Dazzling Starlight busy. Wu, block that paladin for me!” Monk was staking everything now—if he could tame the beast, great; if not, so be it. If not for the Divine War Guild’s interference, Monk was sure the Dark Crocodile would be his, but now, the outcome was uncertain.
Chenfeng and his group slaughtered with abandon, the Dark Crocodile rampaging as well, causing heavy casualties among Divine War players. Just as Chenfeng moved to intercept Dazzling Starlight, his Two-Headed Wyvern was suddenly frozen by an Ice Trap, unable to move.
When had the trap been set?
Chenfeng was baffled; he hadn’t seen Dazzling Starlight lay any traps, yet his wyvern was frozen. For someone to set a trap right under his nose without him noticing—Chenfeng now had to reassess Dazzling Starlight’s strength. This was a true powerhouse, not much weaker than himself!
