Chapter Fourteen: Nine Yin White Bone Claw
“I know he hasn’t had enough sleep yet, but don’t you think he looks even cuter this way?”
“No, I don’t. If he focused in class and improved his grades, then I’d think he’s cuter!” Shi Zhaodi said bluntly.
“You really lose to him!” Qian Duoduo rolled her eyes.
Those who knew Shi Zhaodi understood that as the class monitor, she took it upon herself to unite and motivate the entire class. Those who didn’t know her, judging by her demeanor, might mistake her for a saint coming to save everyone.
After they finished in the restroom, the two lingered in the hallway for a while before returning to the classroom to prepare for the next lesson.
“What’s wrong? You’re walking strangely today,” Qian Duoduo asked, puzzled.
“My back feels a bit sore,” Shi Zhaodi muttered.
She hadn’t slept well all night, her back aching and sore. It had eased somewhat on the way to school in the morning, but she still felt uncomfortable.
“You must have slept with a crick in your neck!” Qian Duoduo joked, patting Shi Zhaodi’s back lightly.
Almost simultaneously, Shi Zhaodi cried out in pain.
The entire class immediately turned to look at her.
Embarrassed, she lowered her head and then glanced at Qian Duoduo with a look of complaint before quickly returning to her seat.
Qian Duoduo looked at her own hand curiously—she hadn’t pressed that hard. Could it be that she possessed some kind of deadly claw technique?
After sitting down, Shi Zhaodi met Zou Kai’s inquisitive gaze.
Avoiding his eyes, she lowered her head, took her textbook out of her bag, and prepared for class.
Noon was Shi Zhaodi’s happiest time because she could eat lunch and rest.
She stood in line with several classmates, waiting to order their food.
As they waited, a few of them chatted about the TV drama they’d watched the night before.
“Where did it end yesterday? Did they get married?” Ke Yiqing asked excitedly.
“Didn’t you watch it?” Qian Duoduo turned to reply.
“No, I went to a wedding banquet with my parents. Hurry up, tell me!” Ke Yiqing urged.
“They didn’t get married—the bride ran away!” Qian Duoduo spread her hands.
“Ah? The bride ran away? Why?” Ke Yiqing looked at her in shock.
“Well, it’s just for the sake of the plot!” Shi Zhaodi said with a smile.
She rarely watched TV because she had homework to do after school and had to help her mother with chores.
Usually, the programs airing at that time were variety shows.
However, Shi Zhaodi really liked one intellectual quiz show and would watch it whenever she had time.
She admired the contestants’ vast knowledge because the questions covered everything under the sun.
She remembered one question about who played the lead actress in a recently popular movie.
At the time, she was stunned.
She didn’t know the answer because she hadn’t seen the film and hadn’t expected such a question.
In reality, it was one of the most everyday questions since the movie had been quite the sensation—she just hadn’t watched it.
“Haha, Shi Zhaodi, you’re hopeless,” Qian Duoduo laughed and reached out to tap Shi Zhaodi’s shoulder but quickly withdrew her hand. Then, somewhat absurdly, she asked, “Is your shoulder okay?”
