Zhao Di Shi, as usual, carried his schoolbag and headed toward Hao En Jiang’s room.
Before reaching the door, he heard Hao En Jiang’s hysterical screams from inside.
In all the years Zhao Di Shi had lived with the Jiang family, there were few sounds as deeply seared into his memory as this one.
It meant that Hao En Jiang’s illness had flared up again.
He hurried inside.
He heard Madam Jiang’s voice,
“Has Zhao Di Shi come back yet?”
“The housekeeper is already waiting at the door.”
Zhao Di Shi rushed in to see Hao En Jiang being restrained by two burly bodyguards.
Hao En Jiang struggled fiercely, his face twisted in pain.
When Zhao Di Shi was ten, he had witnessed Hao En Jiang’s first episode—this very scene.
Without hesitation, he had lunged forward, grabbing the bodyguards, desperately trying to protect Hao En Jiang.
“Brother, brother—”

In his eyes, those men were hurting Hao En Jiang.
“Zhao Di, don’t cause trouble!” Madam Jiang’s anxious face hardened completely.
One of the bodyguards was clearly caught off guard by Zhao Di Shi’s sudden appearance.
“Don’t hurt brother, don’t hurt brother!” Zhao Di Shi seemed deaf to everything else, crying out as he pushed the bodyguards with one hand and clung to Hao En Jiang with the other.
“Pull Zhao Di away,” Madam Jiang ordered sharply to those nearby.
Someone immediately stepped forward to pull Zhao Di Shi aside.
At that moment, Hao En Jiang suddenly summoned an unexpected burst of strength, breaking free from their grip, pushing others away, and clutching Zhao Di Shi tightly as he retreated, warily glaring at everyone in the room.
“Don’t hurt brother—” Zhao Di Shi held on tightly, tears blurring his eyes as he pleaded.
Even the doctors were stunned by the scene.
Later, Hao En Jiang’s attending physician told the Jiang family that perhaps more contact with Zhao Di Shi could help alleviate Hao En Jiang’s condition.
That was why Zhao Di Shi often ran to Hao En Jiang’s room, and the Jiang family tacitly allowed it.
“Zhao Di, quickly talk to Hao En,” Madam Jiang urged anxiously upon seeing him.
Zhao Di Shi approached, repeatedly calling “Brother, brother” and talking to him non-stop, while forcefully pulling at the bodyguards holding Hao En Jiang’s hands.

Suddenly, Hao En Jiang stood up, grabbed Zhao Di Shi, and bit down on her shoulder.
The pain was so sharp that Zhao Di Shi almost stopped breathing.
Everyone in the room gasped sharply.
Yet Zhao Di Shi did not loosen his grip on Hao En Jiang, tears welling as he persistently called out to his brother.
Hao En Jiang’s movements froze abruptly, and he slowly released his bite, lowering his head and gazing at Zhao Di Shi with a dazed look.
“Brother, I’m Zhao Di,” Zhao Di Shi murmured, her eyes brimming with tears that threatened to fall at any moment.
Hao En Jiang looked at Zhao Di Shi, then his gaze shifted to the blood seeping through her school uniform on her shoulder.
The next moment, he let go of Zhao Di Shi, his pupils shrinking sharply.
