Later, Jiang Haoen went to prepare a warm wet towel to wipe Shi Zhaodi's face, and then handed her some chocolates.
He took care of Shi Zhaodi just like a child.
While chewing the chocolate, Shi Zhaodi's face turned so red it was almost dripping blood. If she had known this would happen, she never would have complained that the medicine was bitter!
After eating a few pieces of chocolate and drinking a glass of water, Shi Zhaodi needed to use the restroom. Having no other choice, she tugged at Jiang Haoen's sleeve and pleaded,
"Brother, I need to go to the washroom!"
If Jiang Haoen had insisted this time that she stay right here and brought out some sort of basin for her to use on the spot, she would have died of embarrassment and wished she could just crash straight into a wall.
Jiang Haoen paused for a moment, then nodded and turned to walk away.
"Brother, I want to go to the washroom!" Shi Zhaodi anxiously grabbed Jiang Haoen, emphasizing her request once more.
"I know," Jiang Haoen replied. He walked over to pick up Shi Zhaodi's coat, draped it over her shoulders, and then gently lifted the quilt.
Only then did Shi Zhaodi realize that moments ago, Jiang Haoen was merely adjusting her clothes to keep her from catching a cold, rather than fetching any ridiculous basin.
She immediately relaxed.
The next second, she was swept up into his arms, scooped up by the waist. Startled, she instinctively wrapped her arms around Jiang Haoen's neck.
Jiang Haoen offered no explanation, carrying her straight into the bathroom. After setting her down, he instructed,
"Call me when you're done!"
Then he walked out and pulled the door shut.
Blushing deeply, Shi Zhaodi finished using the restroom, washed her hands, opened the door, and walked out with her head still bowed.
Jiang Haoen turned around, looked at Shi Zhaodi, and gently ruffled her hair.
"Disobedient."
With that, he scooped her back up into his arms, carried her to the bed, and tenderly tucked her in.
At that exact moment, Shi Zhaodi felt an urge to cry.
Her brother was always a man of few words. Sometimes she would chatter away at him for ages without hearing a single syllable in response, yet he always took such meticulous care of her.
"Brother, I like you so much," Shi Zhaodi couldn't help telling Jiang Haoen once again.
It seemed no matter how many times she said it, it could never fully convey the depth of her affection for him.
Jiang Haoen paused slightly, his expression gradually softening into gentleness. With a faint blush on his face, he replied,
"I know."
"Then, Brother, do you like me?" Seeing Jiang Haoen blush, Shi Zhaodi eagerly bounced back with the question.
Jiang Haoen gave no answer. He simply climbed onto the bed and said,
"Go to sleep!"
Then he turned off the lights and lay down.
Shi Zhaodi's mood remained completely unaffected. Cradling Jiang Haoen's arm, she said happily,
"Even if Brother doesn't say it, I know you like me!"
With that blissful thought, she closed her eyes.
In the darkness, Jiang Haoen lay rigid on the bed, remaining completely motionless.
The next morning, Shi Zhaodi's fever had completely broken.
After taking a hot shower in Jiang Haoen's bathroom and sharing a hearty breakfast with him, she finally set off for school.
Jiang Haoen handed the remaining packets of medicine to Shi Zhaodi, and with characteristic earnestness, reminded her,
"One packet every four hours."
Shi Zhaodi had a strong urge to laugh, but she obediently nodded and agreed,
"Thank you, Brother!"
