When Shi Zhaodi walked into the classroom, she saw that Zou Kai was already in his seat.
To her rare surprise, a book was actually placed upright and wide open on his desk.
After she walked over and sat down in her own seat, Qian Duoduo turned her head and asked in a low voice,
"Are you better?"
"Mm-hmm, my fever broke." Shi Zhaodi nodded and replied.
"You didn't come yesterday, and it gave me quite a scare. I thought something had happened to you! But you don't have a cell phone, so I couldn't reach you."
"I don't know why I suddenly ran a fever either. I took some medicine and I'm feeling much better now. We have the math mock test this morning, right?"
"Yeah, it's driving me crazy. Time to study!" After saying that, Qian Duoduo turned back around to continue cramming her math essentials.
Just as Shi Zhaodi was about to take her math textbook out of her school bag, she happened to lock eyes with Zou Kai. With a hint of a smile, she whispered,
"Good luck!"
Zou Kai withdrew his gaze rather stiffly and lowered his head to continue reading.
Shi Zhaodi was already used to Zou Kai's aloofness and didn't mind it. After taking out her textbook, she began to review earnestly.
Following the math mock test, the entire classroom was filled with cries of agony.
Because the difficulty of this test was noticeably higher than usual, many students failed to finish within the allotted time.
Even the math teacher had said it was merely to test the waters, and that failing to solve the final two problems, in particular, didn't matter.
Shi Zhaodi hadn't even finished the very last proof problem.
She hadn't checked the preceding answers either, so she had no idea how well she had done.
She simply felt that time hadn't been enough.
"Zhaodi, did you finish all of it?" As soon as class ended, Qian Duoduo turned around to ask.
"No, I didn't finish the last question, and I didn't have time to check through everything again," Shi Zhaodi answered honestly.
"It was too hard. If the high school entrance exam is this difficult, I might as well just give up," Qian Duoduo groaned.
"The entrance exam isn't meant for you to just coast through!" Shi Zhaodi laughed. "Still, taking a test like this is a good thing. At least we can find out what we still don't know and take advantage of this time to catch up. Otherwise, if we only realize it when the entrance exam arrives, we'll be doomed."
"Relax, you'll be fine no matter what. I'm the one in deep trouble."
"There's still time. If we work hard together, everything will be fine," Shi Zhaodi comforted Qian Duoduo.
"Let's hope so." Qian Duoduo sighed and turned back around.
Shi Zhaodi turned her head to look at Zou Kai.
He was lost in thought, looking somewhat distracted.
"It's okay, we still have time to work hard," Shi Zhaodi said, assuming he was in a bad mood because he had bombed the test.
Zou Kai snapped out of it, turned his head to glance at Shi Zhaodi with a somewhat disdainful look in his eyes, and said,
"Who said I bombed it? For all you know, I might score even better than you!"
"I didn't do very well this time," Shi Zhaodi said with a touch of embarrassment.
"Didn't you just say there's still time?" Zou Kai softened his tone, unusually offering words of comfort in return.
"Yeah, once the mock exam papers are handed back, we can patch up our weaknesses properly," Shi Zhaodi nodded and replied with a smile.
