Chapter 8: A Splendid Way to Retaliate Against a Scum

Upon seeing the blue-clad beauty’s surprised expression, Shinichi Kudo felt a quiet sense of triumph and calmly explained, “It’s because of the blisters on your hand. Women who have so many blisters on their hands usually get them from practicing the horizontal bar all day.”
“But…” Ran Mouri frowned slightly, unable to help but retort, “Even playing tennis can cause blisters.”
Shinichi released the blue-clad woman’s hand and leaned close to Ran, whispering, “Actually, when the wind lifted that woman’s skirt earlier, I accidentally saw special calluses on her thigh. Those are marks only people who practice uneven bars have.”
(Shrug)
Haruki Suzuki twitched the corner of his mouth and gave Shinichi a speechless look.
He wasn’t sure whether to call this guy a hopelessly straightforward man or just a pervert for daring to say such things to Ran.
His head was truly made of iron!
Feigning innocence, Haruki said, “Big brother Shinichi, Sonoko said boys aren’t allowed to peek under girls’ skirts~”
“It’s not up to you, kid, to lecture me. Besides, I said I saw it accidentally, not on purpose,” Shinichi whispered in defense, then gave Haruki’s little head a firm rub.
“Shinichi, don’t bully Haruki.”
“I’m not bullying the kid, I just think he’s too cute. Don’t you agree, Haruki?” Shinichi said as he pinched Haruki’s cheek hard.
A typical case of the strong bullying the weak.
Haruki, being tormented, silently vowed, “Damn washing machine, the wheel of fortune will turn. When you’re small, I’ll definitely get my revenge.”
One reason Haruki wanted to stay close to Ran was because he suspected Kogoro Mouri might be the sign-in target. Another was his hesitation about changing the original storyline.
If he had doubts before, after seeing this blue-clad gymnast, he could now be certain that this timeline aligned with the original anime’s first episode.
In that episode, Shinichi not only helped the police solve a roller coaster murder but was also knocked unconscious by the Black Organization at the amusement park, poisoned, and transformed into a child.
Haruki had been wavering about whether to help Shinichi at a critical moment. But after being bullied by him just now, he felt it would be more entertaining to let Shinichi become a child.
After all, Haruki wasn’t a demon; he simply wanted another classmate.

“Sister Ran, put me down. I want to move around myself.”
“All right, but you mustn’t run off,” Ran said gently as she bent down and set Haruki on the ground, softly patting his little head.
“Okay.”
Obediently, Haruki nodded and then walked over to the blue-clad beauty, reaching out to tug her right hand.
*Ding!* “Congratulations on signing in, Hitomi Tōyama. You have earned 2 stamina points, which the host can claim at any time.”
The moment Haruki touched the blue-clad woman, a system notification sounded in his ear.
Hitomi Tōyama glanced down at Haruki and gave a faint smile before bending slightly to ask, “Little brother, do you need something?”
“Big sister, do you dislike that big brother over there?” Haruki pointed toward a man not far off who was kissing a long-haired woman.
Following his finger, Hitomi’s expression flickered briefly, forcing a smile. “Little brother, Mr. Kishida and I are good friends. How could I dislike him?”
“Really? I thought you and that big brother used to be a couple, but he cheated on you. That’s why when you look at him, there’s a murderous glint in your eyes, like you want to kill him.”
It’s impossible to hide a look of murderous intent. Haruki had noticed that fierce look in Hitomi’s eyes just moments ago.
“W-who exactly are you?” Hitomi’s smile vanished, and a hint of panic appeared in her gaze directed at Haruki.
Because, as Haruki said, Hitomi had indeed dated Mr. Kishida before, and her feelings had turned from love to hate. She had planned to kill him tonight.
“Big sister, you don’t need to look at me like I’m some kind of monster. The reason I know about you and that big brother is entirely because of my sister.”
Haruki sighed helplessly and half-jokingly said, “Maybe it’s because my sister has bad luck with relationships. She’s dated several guys, but they’ve all been cheating scumbags.
“So when I saw the look in your eyes just now, I guessed you and that big brother used to date.”
Hearing this explanation, Hitomi’s panic eased significantly, and curiosity got the better of her. “Little brother, how did your sister deal with those scumbags?”
“The first time she got cheated on, my sister also wanted to stab that scumbag to death. But if she actually killed him, she’d probably end up in jail. My parents would be heartbroken, so she gave up on the idea.”

“…”
Hitomi’s expression changed subtly as images of her own parents flashed through her mind.
If she really ended up in jail for murder, her parents would be devastated and subjected to ridicule from others.
Haruki’s words were like a bucket of cold water, dousing the flames of hatred in Hitomi’s heart.
Haruki earnestly continued, “After giving up on killing, my sister still couldn’t swallow her anger. So she hired an experienced escort to seduce that scumbag’s new girlfriend, making him feel what it’s like to be cuckolded.”
(✪ω✪)
Hitomi’s eyes lit up, her expression thoughtful.
Admittedly, this was a clever plan: a fierce revenge without the risk of imprisonment.
To be honest, Hitomi had wanted to kill her ex-boyfriend out of blind rage, ignoring the consequences.
Now, thanks to Haruki’s advice, she had completely abandoned the idea of murder.
Compared to killing him, making him experience betrayal was indeed more satisfying.
“Little brother, thank you~” Feeling as if a great weight had been lifted from her heart, Hitomi planted a kiss on Haruki’s cheek.

Having successfully dissuaded Hitomi from murder, Haruki smiled happily to himself.
Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda; I really am a good person.
