Chapter Nine: No More Worries About Producing Fake Liquor (Please Vote, Please Bookmark)

The reason Haruaki Suzuki persuaded Hitomi Toyama against killing was mainly because her ex-boyfriend didn’t deserve death.
After all, Hitomi’s ex wasn’t cheating or leading a double life.
If breaking up alone warranted a stabbing, then the world would be full of people who deserved to die.
Moreover, even if Hitomi succeeded in killing her ex, with the famous detective Shinichi Kudo around, she would be caught in no time, ruining her entire future. It simply wasn’t worth it.
After comforting Hitomi, Haruaki Suzuki walked over to her ex-boyfriend and, seemingly by accident, bumped into him.
“Ding! Congratulations on signing in: Kazuhiko Kawamoto. Reward: one year’s supply of Vitality. The host may claim it at any time.”
Indeed, Kazuhiko Kawamoto, like Hitomi Toyama, was also a sign-in target.
Because the words “Sign-in Available” floated above both their heads, Haruaki noticed Kazuhiko so quickly.
“Vitality?”
Hearing this, Haruaki paused briefly, then curiously examined the new sign-in item’s attributes.
[Item Name: Vitality (One Year)
Type: Consumable
Quality: Precious
Effect: Extends the user’s lifespan; especially valuable for those nearing their natural end.
Note: Time is money; a moment lost is impossible to buy.]
Judging by the description, this reward was indeed precious. An artifact that could prolong life was a rarity in any era.
However, for seven-year-old Haruaki, Vitality wasn’t an urgent need, so he didn’t rush to use it but stored it away for now.
“Kid, don’t block the way, move aside quickly.”
A rough voice suddenly sounded. Before Haruaki could react, he was shoved aside and nearly fell.
“Ding! Congratulations on signing in: Gin. Reward: Servant Contract. The host may claim it at any time.”
“Ding! Congratulations on signing in: Vodka. Reward: Riding Skill. The host may claim it at any time.”
Watching the two men in black walk away, Haruaki was about to curse when a system alert rang in his ear.
“Sometimes you search high and low for something, only to find it effortlessly,” Haruaki thought to himself, deciding not to confront Gin and the others. Instead, he curiously examined the items’ attributes.
[Item Name: Servant Contract (Uses: 3/3)
Type: Consumable
Quality: Rare
Effect: Allows the user to form a master-servant contract with an intelligent being. The contracted servant will obey the master’s orders unconditionally and never betray them.

From the descriptions, these rewards perfectly suited Gin and Vodka’s identities.
The black-clad organization was riddled with undercover agents. If Gin had a Servant Contract, he wouldn’t have to worry about traitors nearby.
Vodka, being Gin’s exclusive driver, naturally matched the Riding skill to his profession.
“Haruaki, it’s our turn.”
While Haruaki studied the new items and skills, Ran Mouri suddenly picked him up from behind, heading toward the nearby roller coaster.
“Ahhhh…”
Amid excited screams, the roller coaster safely came to a halt.
“Thanks, little guy~”
Having abandoned her murderous intent, Hitomi Toyama smiled at Haruaki and nodded with relief before leaving the amusement park.
“Those two are suspicious…”
Watching the two men in black walk away, Shinichi Kudo’s eyes narrowed, his expression thoughtful.
Normally, those riding the roller coaster would be young people or couples.
A duo like Gin and Vodka felt completely out of place.
Thus, Shinichi suspected something was off and, unable to curb his curiosity, quietly followed them.
“Shinichi, where are you going?”
Ran called out, unable to hold back.
“Ran, I just remembered something I need to take care of. You take the kid home first!” Shinichi said casually, disappearing into the dark passage without looking back.
“Shinichi…”
Watching Shinichi’s figure swallowed by the darkness, Ran felt an ominous premonition and instinctively wanted to follow.

Haruaki Suzuki, hugging Ran’s neck, yawned and rested his small head on her shoulder. “Big sister Ran, I… I want to sleep…”
Hearing this, Ran stopped in her tracks, withdrawing her worried gaze and softly said, “Haruaki, you’re tired. Let’s head back first.”
Just as Ran turned away holding Haruaki, the little one on her shoulder slowly opened his drowsy eyes, a sharp glint flickering within them.
Haruaki had intentionally spoken up to stop Ran from following Shinichi.
Though Ran’s fighting prowess was astonishing—strong enough that even Gin and Vodka might not be her match—they had guns.
Moreover, Gin’s cautious nature meant he’d surely have snipers guarding the area during any deal with outsiders.
Had Ran followed, it wouldn’t have just been Shinichi turning into a child; the entire story might have ended prematurely.
...
Mouri Detective Agency
“Creak…”
As Ran pushed open the agency door, Haruaki was immediately hit by a strong scent of alcohol. The room was a mess—beer bottles and snack wrappers littered the floor.
“Dad, seriously, how can you keep the house this messy? It’s because of you that no clients come here,” Ran said helplessly as she put Haruaki down and efficiently began cleaning up the trash.
“Uncle Kogoro, hello~”
“Huh? What’s this little brat doing here?” Kogoro Mouri, his face flushed, exhaled a foul breath of alcohol and ruffled Haruaki’s hair.
“Ding! Congratulations on signing in: Kogoro Mouri. Reward: Abnormal Resistance. The host may claim it at any time.”
[Skill Name: Abnormal Resistance

“…”
Suppressing a strong urge to retort, Haruaki lifted his head and smiled cutely. “Uncle Kogoro, I went to the amusement park today and happened to meet big sister Ran, so I came back with her.”
