Chapter 46: A Hundredfold Reward
[Stay within 100 meters of the water resource for thirty minutes to successfully obtain a five-star water resource.]
Another voice sounded. Qin Chuan had encountered this before, so he paid it little mind.
If they didn’t know about Qin Chuan’s breath-holding ability, they might have worried whether he could stay underwater for so long. But now, they had no doubts whatsoever.
Not just half an hour—three hours would be no problem.
This time, there was no warning about a guardian monster appearing, which proved that the three-star Razor Shark Qin Chuan had slain earlier was indeed the guardian of this water resource.
Qin Chuan waited underwater for the full thirty minutes.
[Forbidden Zone Announcement: Qin Chuan, the lucky son of Yanhuang Nation, has obtained a five-star water resource. This resource will be rewarded in the Yanhuang Nation region at a hundredfold multiplier. Additionally, Qin Chuan is granted one silver-level lottery draw.]
“A... one... hundredfold!”
As the announcement was made, everyone was stunned.
They had never expected that the five-star resource reward would be multiplied a hundred times within their homeland.
“A hundredfold? How huge must that be?”
“I’m really looking forward to which part of our country it will appear in. Nowadays, it’s so hard to find any clean water resources anywhere in the world.”
“Due to environmental pollution, the Jiuzhou planet hardly has any clean water left. The benefits Qin Chuan brings to the nation this time are truly immense.”
“Thank you, Qin Chuan. It’s because of you that we can drink clean water again.”
“What a good child! He’s only four years old, yet has brought so many resources to our country. We must never forget him.”
“Qin Chuan is amazing. Not only did he secure a hundredfold water resource reward for the nation, but he also gained a silver-level lottery draw. That gives him an extra ace up his sleeve.”
“Though young, Qin Chuan is already my idol. His contributions to the motherland are immeasurable.”
...
On the shore, Shangguan Ruoyun was also stunned.
Qin Chuan had truly found a water resource underwater.
Recalling how she had wanted to persuade Qin Chuan not to waste time here, she felt a flush of embarrassment.
She was wrong.
Qin Chuan’s persistence was right; she should never have doubted his intuition.
A five-star resource!
A hundredfold reward in the homeland!
Just thinking about it filled Shangguan Ruoyun with pride.
She was glad the country had such a fortunate son in Qin Chuan.
“Splash!”
Qin Chuan leapt out of the lake, water splashing everywhere.
“Qin Chuan!”
Shangguan Ruoyun rushed forward to embrace the dripping wet Qin Chuan and couldn’t help but kiss his tender little face.
“Qin Chuan, you make your sister so proud!”
Not knowing how else to reward him, this was the best way she could express her excitement.
“Sister Shangguan, it’s nothing. You can do it too,” Qin Chuan replied modestly.
Shangguan Ruoyun shook her head. “No, you’re the best. You’re the pride of our nation. Without you, I wouldn’t even have gotten a single one-star resource.”
Speaking of which, Shangguan Ruoyun felt disheartened—her luck was abysmal.
“There will be opportunities in the future,” Qin Chuan consoled her.
The two of them once again mounted Shen Gongbao’s back and set off toward the unknown forest. After Shen Gongbao’s promotion to two stars, monsters below that level would instinctively avoid it upon sensing its aura.
Only some formidable monsters dared to appear, but Shen Gongbao was swift, and Qin Chuan and the others had no interest in engaging these creatures. After all, there were countless monsters in the Forbidden Zone; there was no need to waste time and energy on minor ones.
“So, where are we headed next?” Shangguan Ruoyun asked.
“I don’t know,” Qin Chuan answered.
“What? You don’t know?” Shangguan Ruoyun was stunned. “Then where is Shen Gongbao going now?”
“You ask it,” Qin Chuan said.
“Ah???”
Shangguan Ruoyun was utterly bewildered.
Completely baffled.
Utterly confused!
They had no idea where they were going.
---
Shangguan Ruoyun was at a loss. She had thought Qin Chuan had somewhere to go, but it turned out he didn’t even know.
The key point was, they still didn’t know where Shen Gongbao was heading.
“This, this, this—they actually don’t know where to go.”
“That’s normal. They have no idea how vast the Forbidden Zone is, nor where exactly they are within it. They can only take it one step at a time.”
“Even if they want to find resources, as you’ve seen, such things aren’t found easily.”
“On the bright side, while others are still struggling just to survive, our lucky ones can roam freely in the Forbidden Zone. Isn’t that a good thing?”
“Qin Chuan is just too strong.”
“Let’s hope they have good luck.”
...
And so, Shen Gongbao led Qin Chuan and Shangguan Ruoyun wandering aimlessly. They did try to seek out resources, but the truth was that finding such treasures truly depended on luck.
[Forbidden Zone Announcement: Lucky son of the Beautiful Nation, Hunter, has discovered a one-star forest resource. This resource will be rewarded in the Beautiful Nation region at a tenfold multiplier.]
Not long after, another announcement appeared in the Forbidden Zone, catching Qin Chuan and the others somewhat off guard.
“Someone else got a resource again,” Shangguan Ruoyun sighed. She realized her luck was terrible, having searched several one-star monster lairs without finding anything.
“Although we didn’t get a resource, we obtained dozens of one-star beast cores. These can help you grow stronger. Once your strength increases, finding resources will become easier.”
“That’s true. Thanks to your method, we can hunt monsters while searching for resources.”
“Great! I love hunting monsters the most!”
By defeating powerful monsters, one’s affinity could be raised. However, monsters below three stars only increased his affinity insignificantly; only those three stars and above could truly enhance it.
Yet, Qin Chuan noticed that three-star and above monsters were rare. Despite searching for a long time, he hadn’t encountered a single one. One-star monsters were plentiful; two-star ones less so.
Shangguan Ruoyun knew well that with her current strength, she could only handle up to two-star monsters. Facing three-star or above meant she had to flee.
As for Qin Chuan’s strength, she wasn’t sure, only knowing he could easily dominate three-star monsters—he must be over four stars.
They weren’t concerned about the national luck resource rankings. With the 160-fold resource reward secured, no one could surpass Qin Chuan unless they also obtained a five-star reward.
They were curious about what the national luck reward would be in the next few days and eagerly anticipated the upcoming rewards.
