Chapter 50 (Double Chapter)
The little toddler, who had just been feeling terribly embarrassed, finally lowered the tiny hands covering his flushed face, encouraged by the mindless, over-the-top praises of the surrounding Netherworld people led by the Netherlord.
Yet, he still nervously tugged at the corner of his little tunic and said sheepishly, "...But Yoyo still broke the bed."
The Netherlord immediately glanced expressionlessly at Wanyou, who instantly turned around and fetched another massive piece of warm jade from the Netherlord's private treasury.
The Netherlord gently ruffled the toddler's hair. "Look, we have a new bed."
The toddler looked from the warm jade in Wanyou's hands to the "bed" he had previously reduced to powder, hesitated for a moment, and said, "...Yoyo doesn't want to sleep in a bed anymore!"
He had only taken a single tumble, and the bed had shattered into dust...
Although the warm bed was wonderfully comfortable, Su You always felt that the "quality" of this bed wasn't quite right.
The Netherlord likely perceived the tiny wave of inner conflict on the toddler's face. He chose not to explain just how indestructible this Nether-Crystal Jade was supposed to be. So, after the toddler's hesitant rejection, the Netherlord temporarily decided not to press the issue further.
Anyway, there were still plenty of materials within the Nether Domain that could be used to build a bed for the toddler; if not Nether-Crystal Jade, other rare treasures would do just as well...
Just as the Netherlord was thinking this, pondering what delicious food or fun toy to fetch for the little fellow today, the sudden emergence of an energy wave instantly put the Netherlord on high alert.
At the exact same moment, the little one sitting in the Netherlord's lap heard a prompt from System 001:
[Mission in Plane No. 25838 has been fully completed. The transport channel to the next plane is currently under construction, estimated to be completed in 0.05 cosmic hours. Please prepare for transmission, Host.]
The toddler, who had been somewhat dazed, finally remembered that all his "missions" were completely finished after hearing System 001's prompt!
But was he going to leave this place so soon?
Su You couldn't help recalling all the numerous, incredibly delicious things he had eaten the previous night—in all his short life, he had never tasted such amazing roast meat, fruits, and ice cream!
At this thought, the little fellow inevitably drooped his little mouth and buried his head into the crook of the Netherlord's neck.
The Netherlord, Wanyou, and Wanshan naturally sensed the strange energy beginning to materialize around them.
They quickly recalled the group of outsiders who had vanished yesterday.
It was precisely after the appearance of such strange energy that those outsiders had left the Nether Domain through a spatial channel.
And now, the strange energy had appeared once more. Although the spatial channel had not yet fully formed, yet...
Yet their toddler, the little fellow who had saved the entire Nether clan, was about to leave them immediately?!
The Netherlord could not help tightening his embrace around the toddler in his arms, whispering in his gentlest voice, "Yoyo, what's wrong? Are you..."
Are you leaving?
Those four words were something the Netherlord could not bring himself to speak aloud.
He wanted to keep the toddler in his arms, but he could tell that this toddler did not belong to the Nether Domain.
The child possessed an energy far surpassing the Nether Domain. He had been able to lift the curse for the Nether clan, and even possessed the strength to turn Nether-Crystal Jade into powder by accidentally tripping over it.
He could sense that this toddler possessed an immensely powerful bloodline, and right now, the toddler was merely in the growth phase. The energy truly required to fuel this toddler's growth could not be provided by the Nether Domain alone.
The Netherlord was certain that if they forcibly made this toddler stay in the Nether Domain, the child might never truly grow up in his entire lifetime.
Therefore... for the sake of the toddler's growth, they could not keep him out of their own reluctance to let go.
...Even though they desired nothing more than to do so.
In the Netherlord's arms, the little one rested sorrowfully against the Netherlord's neck, clinging to him affectionately. "...Mingming, Yoyo is going to leave very soon!"
Though he was so reluctant to part with Mingming and all the other Nether clan members who had brought him so many delicious foods, the little one hadn't forgotten that he was working hard to "play a game." Only by diligently completing his missions could he keep Tongtong by his side forever.
Besides Mingming, he also wanted to see Lili and Beibei again!
So... however reluctant he felt, the tiny toddler still had to journey on to explore new worlds.
Only...
The tiny toddler couldn't help looking up at his Tongtong. "Tongtong, can Yoyo come back to play with Mingming in the future?"
The formidable Battle-King System 001 looked at the toddler's aggrieved expression and couldn't help sighing. The reason he had been able to promise the toddler a return to Plane No. 12768 after everything ended was because the toddler's native plane was far too tiny, practically approaching zero. As a Main-God-level system, he possessed a certain level of authority to allow his host to migrate to a different plane for survival.
However, being able to change survival planes did not mean one could freely and infinitely shuttle back and forth between different planes.
That violated the conventions of the main universe—the only ones capable of freely shuttling through subordinate planes were cosmic citizens born within the main universe. Even with Main-God-level authority, the system could not break the boundaries of the universal covenant to make such a promise to the toddler.
A promise that cannot be fulfilled must never be spoken aloud.
Before System 001 could figure out how to comfort the toddler, the little one had already deduced the answer from System 001's silence.
After all, if Tongtong could agree, he would have answered already—when Tongtong didn't answer a question, it meant it was not allowed.
Seeing the system's reaction, the little one drooped his head in sorrow once more.
Nearby, whether it was the Netherlord, Wanyou, or Wanshan, seeing the grieving little one broke their hearts. They earnestly reached out to ruffle the little fellow's hair. Then Wanyou—the one who had previously presented the toddler with a handful of blood-red Purity Tears—suddenly thought of something:
"Yoyo, is your little pocket a spatial magical artifact?"
"Huh?"
The toddler, currently hanging his head in sadness, blinked up at Wanyou in utter confusion upon hearing the question. "Spatial magical artifact?"
Seeing that the little fellow didn't understand, Wanyou immediately turned around, picked up the piece of warm jade he had just retrieved, and said to Su You, "Yoyo, can your pocket fit this inside?"
The little one looked at the warm jade, which was even larger than himself, and tilted his head. "Um, yes?"
With that, under Wanyou's guidance, the little one held open the pouch in front of his clothes. Wanyou effortlessly slipped the warm jade—which far exceeded the toddler's body size—right into the toddler's pocket. Then, they watched as the pouch instantly flattened back out, revealing no trace of what had been placed inside.
Upon seeing this effect, the Netherlord pondered for a moment and asked, "Yoyo, how much more stuff can your pocket hold?"
The little one tilted his head, reached out to pat his pouch, and then stretched out his little arms to gesture. "It can hold so, so much!"
Hearing this reply, the Netherlord immediately nodded to Wanyou and the others. "Go. Gather the clan members and prepare a farewell gift for Yoyo."
The little one didn't understand the phrase "farewell gift," but Wanyou and Wanshan certainly did.
In a fraction of a second, every single member of the Nether clan learned that Yoyo, who had just saved them yesterday, was about to leave the Nether Domain! And might never have the chance to return!
At this thought, every member of the Nether clan sprang into immediate action!
A farewell gift! It must be fully prepared!
As long as it existed within the Nether Domain, Yoyo must not go without it!
Instantly, the entire Nether clan began operating with a fervor as if they wanted to flip the entire Nether Domain upside down. Some went searching for all kinds of rare resources, while others prepared a multitude of delicious foods.
Yoyo liked eating roast meat! Delicious roast meat was a must!
Yoyo liked eating fruit! Delicious fruit was a must, too!
Even the Netherlord, after confirming that he could make ice cream and place it in the toddler's pouch without it melting even when taken back out, began using his mighty power to craft milk-and-fruit ice cream for the toddler in quantities sufficient to last him a very, very, very long time.
Though the little one was extremely sad about leaving, as more and more delicious treats were brought to him by everyone, the little fellow was momentarily distracted from his sorrow by his own appetite.
"So fragrant, so yummy!"
Crying a little because he was both tempted by the food and reluctant to part with everyone, the little fellow earnestly gave a tight hug to every single Nether clan member who came to deliver food to him.
Looking at everyone with a heavy heart, the grieving little one sighed like a tiny adult, "Wuwu, if only Yoyo could come back here to play again!"
Every Nether clan member who brought precious gifts to the little one was equally heartbroken to part with the toddler who had delivered them from a curse lasting nearly ten thousand years. Yet none of them spread this sorrowful mood; instead, they affectionately ruffled the little fellow's hair and eagerly told him just how wonderful the gifts they brought were.
"This is the Myriad-Spirit Fruit. Eating it grants immense spiritual power—though the most important thing is that it tastes absolutely delicious, you see!"
"This is the Moon-Soul Flower. It can purify a person's soul power. Of course, it's very pretty too, so keep it by your bed to play with, Yoyo!"
"This is... this is..."
Nearly all the Nether clan members brought every rare treasure they could find in the Nether Domain and laid them before the toddler. Of course, the most numerous gifts remained the delicious foods the toddler loved best—even though these foods contained extraordinarily precious energies, powers so immense that consuming them as ordinary food might normally be considered a terrible waste.
But what did that matter?
As long as the little one was happy!
As more and more "food" was delivered to the toddler, the Nether people could feel that the spatial force penetrating everything around the toddler was growing stronger and stronger.
With the intensification of this spatial force, a glimmer of doubt arose in the Netherlord's eyes. After all, he had witnessed firsthand the astonishing speed at which the transport channel had materialized around the adversary he had fought yesterday.
Why was the process so agonizingly slow when it was the toddler's turn to be transported away today? Could it be to construct a much safer transport channel? Or something else?
System 001 naturally noticed the Netherlord's keen perception—in fact, the Netherlord's guess was entirely correct. The transport channel currently under construction was vastly superior in safety compared to standard transport channels, and its level of confidentiality had already reached the highest possible rank.
