Volume One, Chapter 16: Do You Intend to Resist the Law by Force?

Ye Tian’s face remained calm, his eyes devoid of any trace of panic or fear. Clearly, this was a conspiracy aimed at the Li Group. The Pharmaceutical Regulatory Bureau was not targeting him directly. Rather, it was Shen Yuwei, that meddlesome troublemaker, who insisted on pinning the blame on him.

So, how would the Li Group respond? And what about Li Qingcheng? Would they push him out to take the fall, or would they bear the burden themselves, protecting him at all costs? In such a critical moment of crisis, it was the perfect test of a partner’s reliability.

Ye Tian remained expressionless, silent, waiting for the Li family’s stance.

“Take this fraud away immediately!” Captain Fu waved his hand impatiently, secretly elated. The turn of events exceeded his expectations. He never anticipated that someone would step forward at the press conference to accuse Ye Tian of being a scammer, which conveniently made his operation easier. It was like finding a needle in a haystack without any effort—an opportunity too good to miss.

Indeed, his target today was the Li Group, but more so Ye Tian—Ye Tian was even more important. Now that Ye Tian was being pushed out as the scapegoat, the outcome far surpassed his expectations. He was eager to take Ye Tian away right now.

Several law enforcement officers behind him strode toward Ye Tian. The situation was about to be decided.

“Wait!” Li Qingcheng finally spoke, her tone laced with cold resolve. “You cannot take Ye Tian away!” She stood firmly in front of him, then cast a cold glance at Shen Yuwei.

“You want to take Ye Tian away based solely on the accusations of an insignificant outsider? Do you not respect our Li Group at all?”

Shen Yuwei was momentarily stunned. What did Li Qingcheng just call her? Insignificant? An outsider? Was she mad? She was trying to help the Li Group!

Did the Li Group intend to shoulder this blame themselves? Were they really going to defend this fraud? Besides a convincing facade, what did Ye Tian have to offer? Had she lost her mind?

Suddenly, Shen Yuwei realized the situation was unfavorable. The Li Group seemed to reject her accusations and instead viewed her with hostility. By stepping forward to expose Ye Tian, she had only made herself an enemy. She might be finished.

Fear and regret crept into her heart. She began to retreat slowly, understanding that such a high-stakes battle was beyond her place to intervene. Merely being tangentially involved could doom her a hundred times over.

But Li Qingcheng no longer paid attention to Shen Yuwei. She stood protectively before Ye Tian, while Li family bodyguards quickly gathered around, encircling them both, projecting an imposing presence.

“We, the Li family, are not soft targets to be trifled with!” she declared firmly. “If you lack sufficient evidence proving that our Dingyan Dan is toxic, then no one will take Ye Tian away today!”

In front of the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Bureau, Li Qingcheng showed no hint of weakness. The Li Group had the confidence to back her up.

Ye Tian smiled quietly. She truly had the air of a domineering CEO. She seemed like a formidable partner—daring to confront the authorities head-on. What other heavy hitters did the Li Group have?

Nearby, Li Dingguo furrowed his brow and stepped forward. “Captain Fu, I believe there must be some misunderstanding…” His tone was more measured, mindful that they faced law enforcement. If unnecessary, they should avoid confrontation. He tried reasoning with Captain Fu.

“Mr. Ye Tian is a distinguished guest of our Li Group. We are well aware of his medical skills and character.”

“Moreover, Dingyan Dan underwent rigorous testing and inspection before reaching the market.”

“It is impossible for it to be unsafe, let alone poisonous…”

Captain Fu sneered. He was well prepared today and would not let the Li Group slip away so easily.

“Mr. Li, your words are merely one-sided.” He said, “We have patients as witnesses, as well as complete surveillance footage. There is no fabrication here.”

Waving his hand, officers immediately began presenting the video evidence.

At the same time, another officer explained to the onlookers, “This is footage of our tester consuming Dingyan Dan. Shortly after taking it, he began vomiting and lost consciousness. He is now barely clinging to life…”

The guests around quickly started whispering.

“So it’s really because of Dingyan Dan that he was poisoned? The poisoning looks severe.”

“Is this really Dingyan Dan? And all based on a single video…”

“Regardless of the truth, before the investigation concludes, we should be cautious about cooperating with the Li Group and wait and see.”

The murmurs brought a faint smile to Captain Fu’s lips. Although the video wasn’t conclusive enough to pin full responsibility on the Li Group, stirring up trouble and dragging them into an investigation was sufficient.

Captain Fu ordered the video to be taken down and said sternly, “Since the matter has occurred, we must conduct a thorough investigation.”

“According to regulations, until the investigation is complete, the Li Group must suspend all related activities, including today’s press conference.”

“Additionally, all personnel involved will be taken in for questioning.”

“If the Li Group obstructs our duties…”

“Mr. Li, you understand the consequences.”

Li Dingguo’s expression darkened further at these words.

Captain Fu sneered and commanded the officers beside him, “Take the man away!”

“Yes, sir!”

The officers advanced toward Ye Tian again. They dared not arrest the Li Group’s people recklessly, but someone like Ye Tian was an easy catch. Even if the situation reversed later, they wouldn’t bear severe consequences.

The officers’ aggressive approach was met with unyielding resistance from the Li family bodyguards. They stood firm, shielding Ye Tian and barring anyone from getting close.

“What do you mean by this?” Captain Fu’s face hardened. He glanced at Li Dingguo. “Is the Li Group planning to resist law enforcement by force?”

“Of course, we will not resist forcefully,” Li Qingcheng stepped out from the crowd to face Captain Fu. “But your law enforcement procedures are illegal!”

“You want to take away our Li Group’s important guest based solely on a single trial video?”

“How can you guarantee the Dingyan Dan used in the test actually came from our Li Group?”

“If you recklessly take away our key research personnel, can you bear the grave consequences?”

Li Qingcheng’s pointed questions left Captain Fu momentarily speechless.

After a brief silence, he replied slowly, “Fine. We won’t take your people away, but you still must cooperate with our investigation…”

Li Qingcheng raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And how do you expect us to cooperate?”

Captain Fu replied calmly, “You can provide the formula of Dingyan Dan for us to take back and conduct a thorough examination to determine the cause of the tester’s poisoning…”
