Song Wanxi followed Wu Weiwei as they took the elevator straight up to the twentieth floor.

“Ajin is inside, just go straight in!” Wu Weiwei pointed toward the front door.

Song Wanxi glanced up at the nameplate and inwardly thought that Wu Weiwei was pretending not to understand, deliberately trying to embarrass her.

“This is the conference room,” Song Wanxi said lazily, not bothering to expose her.

“Right, he’s in there!” Wu Weiwei blinked, feigning ignorance.

Song Wanxi walked over to a nearby chair and sat down, not in the mood to play games with her. She said faintly, “Thanks, I’ll wait for him here.”

Seeing that Song Wanxi was clear-headed and her little scheme had failed, Wu Weiwei stopped pressing and curiously asked, “Sister-in-law, what do you want to see Ajin about?”

Song Wanxi looked up at her impatiently. “Does my husband need to have a reason for me to come see him?”

Hearing the words “my husband,” Wu Weiwei felt a flush of irritation darkening her face. Her smile vanished beyond disguise, but she forced out a dry laugh. “Haha, right. Well, you wait here then, I’ll go have a look around.”

Song Wanxi waited outside for a while, when suddenly the sound of a door opening came from inside.

She stood up tensely.

One after another, several people came out of the conference room. Judging by their slightly older age and distinguished aura, they didn’t look like employees but shareholders.

This was no ordinary meeting. Fortunately, she hadn’t been tricked by Wu Weiwei into rushing in recklessly.

These people walked with steady steps and dignified manners as they passed right in front of Song Wanxi.

Finally, she saw You Jin come out.

He walked while looking down at some documents, giving instructions to his assistant beside him, unaware of her presence.

“President You,” Song Wanxi greeted softly.

You Jin paused, looked up at her.

The man’s eyes darkened slightly. He closed the file and handed it to the assistant, then approached Song Wanxi.

Her mood inexplicably grew nervous, and her hands twisted the strap of her bag unconsciously.

You Jin came closer, glanced at his phone screen, found no incoming call, and slipped it back into his pocket. “Have you been here long?”

Song Wanxi shook her head lightly. “No, just arrived.”

“Next time, you can call me first,” he said.

“Okay.” Song Wanxi didn’t know what he meant by that.

Was he worried she had waited too long?

Or was he hoping she’d make an appointment first so she wouldn’t disturb his work?

You Jin instructed his assistant, “Print two copies of the contract drafted this morning and bring them to the office.”

The assistant responded, “Yes, President You.”

He then said to Song Wanxi, “Let’s go to my office to discuss.”

Song Wanxi nodded softly.

You Jin’s long legs moved steadily forward. Song Wanxi followed behind, quickening her pace to keep up.

Looking at the broad, imposing back of the man in a perfectly fitting black suit—elegant, steady, and dignified.

At a corner, You Jin suddenly stopped and turned his head toward a shadowy spot.

Song Wanxi failed to stop in time and bumped into him. Startled, she stepped back, rubbing her forehead and murmured, “Sorry.”

You Jin glanced back at her, seeing she was unharmed, and pointed at the door ahead. “Wait for me in the office.”

“Okay.” Song Wanxi didn’t think much and passed him to go forward.

You Jin watched her enter the office, then turned left into the stairwell and pulled Wu Weiwei out from inside.

Wu Weiwei clutched her arm, grimacing in pain. “Ajin, let go… let go… it hurts, it hurts…”

You Jin’s expression was cold and stern. “Why are you sneaking around in my company again? What are you up to here?”

Wu Weiwei hurried to explain, “I’m not here for you. Isn’t Jenny interning at your company? I came looking for Jenny. She still has over an hour before she gets off, so I wandered around and did a livestream to pass the time.”

You Jin said, “Jenny is on the third floor. Why did you come to the twentieth?”

Wu Weiwei pouted, aggrieved. “Sister-in-law couldn’t find you, so I brought her up here.”

“Go downstairs.” You Jin released her arm and turned back toward the office.

Wu Weiwei rubbed her sore arm, biting her teeth in anger, looking both wronged and sulky.

She walked to the elevator and pressed the button.

Shortly, the elevator doors opened and the assistant came out holding two contracts.

Wu Weiwei immediately grabbed him. “Assistant Chen, wait a moment.”

Chen looked puzzled. “Miss Wu, is there something you need?”

“The contracts you’re holding—are they from President You?”

Chen responded, “Yes.”

“What kind of contracts? Are they related to that woman?”

Chen said seriously, “This is a business secret. If you want to know, you can ask President You.”

“I’m President You’s best friend. There are no secrets between us,” Wu Weiwei said angrily, snatching the documents from Chen’s hand, turning her back to him and quickly flipping through them.

Chen panicked and hurried to grab them back.

But with the difference between men and women, the more Wu Weiwei dodged, the less Chen could seize them. “Miss Wu, please return the contracts. This is You Group, not your little garden. Don’t go too far.”

Wu Weiwei scoffed and handed the contracts back to Chen. “What’s the big deal? Business secrets? Pfft! It’s just an investment contract.”

Chen’s face darkened with anger as he carried the contracts back to the office.

Wu Weiwei stepped into the elevator. As the doors slowly closed, her expression shifted from angry disdain to dark and cold.

——

The spacious office was grand and imposing.

Song Wanxi sat opposite You Jin’s desk, leafing through the contracts the assistant had brought in. After a moment, she placed the contract on the desk, sitting upright to meet You Jin’s gaze.

You Jin handed her a pen, but she didn’t take it.

“Aren’t you here to sign the contract?” he asked.

Song Wanxi spoke calmly and confidently, “President You, I know very well that my company isn’t worth this price. The terms you offer are very enticing. Any businessman would sign without hesitation, but absolute controlling interest is my principle—I will not compromise.”

You Jin raised an eyebrow, a faint smile playing on his lips as he set down the pen. “You think I would agree to 49% controlling interest?”

Song Wanxi’s eyes were resolute. Her voice was gentle but firm. “I don’t think you would.”

You Jin fell silent, his deep eyes like an abyss, quietly studying her.

Song Wanxi felt her ears warm under his gaze, an inexplicable nervousness stirring within her.

He had dominated the business world for years—decisive, commanding, a commanding presence that could suffocate with a single look.

Since they each held firm to their principles, Song Wanxi felt there was no need to force things.

“I came today to try once more, hoping you’d consider investing less and taking a smaller share.” She paused, pursed her lips hesitating for a few seconds, then her tone hardened. “But not cooperating is also fine. I don’t want to be too deeply tied to you…”

Before she finished, You Jin’s expression darkened abruptly. His voice was cold and powerful as he cut her off, “Agreed.”

Song Wanxi was stunned.

You Jin added seriously, “I’ll have my assistant revise the contract so you hold 51% absolute control, but the operating rights and pricing authority must be under me.”

The sudden twist and swift agreement took her by surprise. Her heart surged with joy, a quiet smile touching her lips as she nodded in agreement.

At that moment, a phone rang.

You Jin picked up the phone from the desk, furrowed his brow slightly, then answered, holding it to his ear. “What’s the matter?”

Song Wanxi didn’t know who was on the other end or what was said, but she saw You Jin’s face darken instantly. He stood up tensely and strode out. “Where? I’m coming now.”

Song Wanxi watched his anxious figure disappear from the office, puzzled.

He left without a word, leaving her behind.

She guessed the call was from Wu Weiwei.

In that instant, she felt both desolate and ridiculous.
