Chapter Fourteen: Yi Zhonghai Seeks Revenge
“Where am I?”
At the Red Star Affiliated Hospital, Yi Zhonghai slowly opened his eyes. He gazed up at the pristine white ceiling and inhaled the sharp scent of disinfectant. Gradually, his consciousness returned.
“Old Yi, you’re finally awake! Oh, thank heavens,” an elderly woman wept uncontrollably upon seeing him regain consciousness.
Her anxiety was understandable. She and Yi Zhonghai had no children, and the entire household depended solely on him to provide. If Yi Zhonghai were to die, she truly wouldn’t know how to carry on.
“Boss, don’t worry. I’m fine,” Yi Zhonghai assured her.
“Master,” an elderly man greeted, “you’re awake at last.”
Jia Dongxu and Shazhu had also remained nearby. It wasn’t out of genuine concern for Yi Zhonghai; rather, staying close provided a better opportunity to scheme against Wang Lin, without fear of being discovered by others.
Upon discussion, it became clear that the elderly woman had contributed the most effort today.
Her actions today completely reshaped Jia Dongxu and Shazhu’s perception of her.
“Honey, pour me a glass of water,” Yi Zhonghai requested.
“All right, right away,” she hurried and poured him a cup of warm water.
After sipping the water, Yi Zhonghai’s complexion improved noticeably.
At that moment, the elderly woman’s expression turned cold and vengeful, her words laden with grievance.
“Honey, we can’t just let Wang Lin off like this.”
Shazhu quickly chimed in, “And Xu Damao too. We must deal with him properly. If it weren’t for him, the entire hospital wouldn’t know that Master here is… lacking.”
True to form, Shazhu spoke without thinking, blurting out whatever came to mind.
He failed to notice that as soon as he said that, Yi Zhonghai’s face darkened instantly.
However, Yi Zhonghai, knowing Shazhu’s nature, suppressed his anger.
At this point, Jia Dongxu outlined the plan the three of them had devised.
Yi Zhonghai listened thoughtfully.
“Are you sure this won’t be discovered?”
Jia Dongxu answered confidently.
“Don’t worry, Master. I guarantee Wang Lin won’t find out.”
“Good. Then Wang Lin is your responsibility. We’ll keep an eye on him and his wife.”
After a pause, Yi Zhonghai turned to Shazhu.
“Shazhu, I’m counting on you to handle Xu Damao. Don’t worry, I’ll support you. Just follow the plan.”
Shazhu’s face lit up with excitement upon hearing Yi Zhonghai’s approval. He even licked his lips involuntarily and instinctively rubbed the place that pained him most.
Jia Dongxu looked at Shazhu with disdain.
“You’re a fool. Not even a man anymore, yet you still dare compete with me for Qin Huairu. You’d better have the ability for that.”
After Yi Zhonghai was discharged and returned to the courtyard house, Shazhu shouted, summoning everyone for a full meeting that evening.
However, Shazhu’s voice sounded somewhat off—strained and somewhat effeminate.
Hearing that voice, Yi Zhonghai’s body trembled slightly.
That evening, as the workers returned from their shifts and ate simple meals, they gathered in the central courtyard.
Wang Lin and Qin Huairu were also present.
“Honey, are we staying here tonight?”
Qin Huairu was reluctant to stay in the courtyard house.
Firstly, she didn’t know anyone there; secondly, none of the residents were trustworthy—especially Jia Zhangshi, whose gaze felt predatory.
“We’ll finish our business tonight and then leave. I want to make sure they can’t sleep,” Wang Lin said with a mischievous grin, his expression as sleazy as it was sinister.
Qin Huairu blushed and lightly pinched Wang Lin’s waist.
“You’re really bad.”
“Heh, a man’s no fun if he’s not bad! Don’t you like your naughty husband?”
She nestled against Wang Lin’s chest tenderly.
“I do. I like my naughty husband the most.”
Seeing Wang Lin and Qin Huairu flirting so openly, Jia Dongxu’s eyes burned with fury, his desire barely concealed.
“Qin Huairu, soon you’ll learn what it means to be judged by me.”
Wang Lin shot a cold glance at Jia Dongxu. He sensed Jia’s intentions, which angered him.
But as the leader of the Daxia Dragon Group, Wang Lin was not quick-tempered; he knew this was not the time to eliminate Jia Dongxu.
Looking at Qin Huairu in his arms, Wang Lin decided to use countermeasures.
Meanwhile, Shazhu’s gaze did not linger on Qin Huairu but focused intently on the sly Xu Damao.
His look was predatory, like a starving wolf eyeing a lamb, eager to devour him.
Shazhu stared at Xu Damao with lustful eyes, making Xu visibly uncomfortable.
“Xu Damao, you can’t escape my grasp,” Shazhu whispered, chuckling darkly.
Though Shazhu’s voice was low, Wang Lin and Qin Huairu heard him clearly. Both were shocked and exchanged a glance.
Unlike the less knowledgeable Qin Huairu, Wang Lin, observing Shazhu’s behavior and the occasional delicate finger gestures, looked at Yi Zhonghai in disbelief.
He never imagined Yi Zhonghai’s heart could be so ruthless—he had made Shazhu a eunuch, the very first of a new era.
“Xu Damao, sit in the middle,” Liu Haizhong, the Second Elder, said first, eager to show off.
He was enjoying his current status, feeling like a true leader.
Xu Damao dragged a stool to the center, looking utterly indifferent, as if nothing mattered.
“Speak. What’s the matter?”
Liu Haizhong’s anger flared at Xu Damao’s blatant disregard for the three elders.
“What’s with your attitude, Xu Damao?”
Xu shrugged nonchalantly.
“What’s wrong with my attitude? I haven’t done anything wrong.”
Seeing Liu Haizhong falter, Yan Bugui, the Third Elder, stepped in.
“Xu Damao, do you forget the rumors you spread about Master last night?”
Xu immediately denied it.
“Third Elder, don’t say that. When did I spread rumors? Master’s big treasure is just small and short. If you don’t believe me, ask Deputy Director Wang Lin.”
Hearing this, Yi Zhonghai’s face turned as black as ink.
He quickly gave Shazhu a look.
Receiving the signal, Shazhu rolled up his sleeves and punched Xu Damao.
“Xu Damao, you’re asking for trouble!”
Xu Damao had long expected this from Shazhu and had suffered this humiliation more than once.
Seeing Shazhu move to strike, he tried to flee.
But today was different; something tripped him, and he fell to the ground.
Shazhu, thrilled, advanced even faster.
“Ow! I’m calling the cops! I’m calling the cops!”
Thanks to Wang Lin’s presence, Xu Damao knew not everything could be settled inside the courtyard; otherwise, he’d always be at a disadvantage.
As Shazhu beat him, Xu Damao wailed and shouted for help.
Yet Shazhu, hearing his cries of pain, only grew more excited and eager to continue the assault.
