After speaking to Lou Xiaoe, Wang Lin turned to Qin Huairu and added,
“The same goes for you. Understood?”
Qin Huairu and Lou Xiaoe nodded together.
“Mm-hmm. I understand, Brother Lin.”
“Hahaha, that’s my good wife.”
Wang Lin led Qin Huairu and Lou Xiaoe back home. Along the way, no one from the courtyard asked a single question, mainly because Qin Huairu was with them.
However, one person had been hiding in the shadows, waiting for the three of them to return. That person was Xu Damao.
When Xu Damao saw that Lou Xiaoe had truly returned with Wang Lin and Qin Huairu, a sinister smile spread across his face.
He waited until the three of them had entered the house before putting on a lecherous grin and turning to leave the courtyard.
“Wang Lin, Wang Lin… Let’s see whether you can escape trouble this time. Heh heh heh!”
By evening, Lou Xiaoe and Qin Huairu had already washed themselves clean. Looking at the two fair-skinned beauties on the bed, Wang Lin could not stop smiling.
Thinking of how he had been single all his previous life, and comparing that to his current situation—where he not only had powerful backing but also two beautiful women—Wang Lin let out a lecherous laugh inwardly.
“Heh heh heh… I really am the protagonist.”
Wang Lin grinned smugly, barely stopping himself from laughing out loud.
“My wives, your husband is coming.”
With that, Wang Lin was about to pounce onto the bed.
But at that very moment, someone knocked on the door of his house.
Having his good time interrupted, Wang Lin instantly became furious.
“Who is it? It’s late at night! Don’t you know you’re interrupting something important?”
Wang Lin hastily put on a few clothes and said to Qin Huairu and Lou Xiaoe,
“You two stay in bed and wait for your husband to come back and pamper you, all right?”
Qin Huairu replied with a smile,
“Go on. See what’s going on.”
Lou Xiaoe, however, was much shyer. Her little head was already buried beneath the covers, and she answered in a voice only slightly louder than a mosquito’s.
“Mm.”
Wang Lin opened the door and discovered that the visitors were familiar faces. It was none other than Director Wang from the Subdistrict Office and Section Chief Zhao from the Steel Plant Security Section.
“Deputy Factory Manager Wang, Xu Damao reported that you were engaging in improper relations with women. Is that true?”

It was Section Chief Zhao who spoke. He knew that Wang Lin’s identity was unusual, so he immediately exposed Xu Damao.
“I haven’t been engaging in any improper relations. Wait a moment.”
With that, Wang Lin went straight into the house and soon returned with an official document bearing a red heading.
“Take a look at this and you’ll understand. I married them in order to complete a mission. There are many things in this world that you don’t know about.”
Section Chief Zhao took the document and examined it together with Director Wang.
The moment they finished reading it, both men were stunned. The document actually required Wang Lin to marry several wives—at least five, in fact.
Seeing this, Director Wang and Section Chief Zhao were utterly embarrassed.
Wang Lin continued,
“Oh, right. Factory Manager Yang and Deputy Factory Manager Li know about this as well.”
Director Wang and Section Chief Zhao respectfully returned the document to Wang Lin and spoke with great caution.
“Well, Deputy Factory Manager Wang, we’re truly sorry for disturbing you so late tonight. Please carry on. We’ll be leaving now.”
“Mm. Don’t forget the fellow who spread rumors about a factory leader.”
Director Wang and Section Chief Zhao cursed inwardly.
“Xu Damao wasn’t spreading rumors about you. What he said was actually true.”
But what could they do? They had no authority to interfere with Wang Lin. Taking wives was an assignment issued by a senior state leader.
When Director Wang and Section Chief Zhao stepped outside, Xu Damao, who had been watching from the central courtyard, approached them with a broad smile.
“Director Wang, Section Chief Zhao, you see? I told you I wasn’t wrong. Wang Lin really was engaging in improper relations with women.”
Director Wang and Section Chief Zhao cast cold glances at Xu Damao. Because of him, they had nearly gotten themselves into serious trouble.
“Take Xu Damao away.”
“What? Wait, Section Chief Zhao! Shouldn’t you be arresting Wang Lin? Why are you taking me?”
Xu Damao was dumbfounded, but faced with the Security Section, he did not dare resist.
“You spread false rumors about a factory leader. If we don’t arrest you, whom should we arrest?”
Xu Damao felt terribly wronged and hurriedly defended himself.
“Director Wang, Section Chief Zhao, I’m innocent! Wang Lin really was engaging in improper relations with women. He married Qin Huairu, and he also married Lou Xiaoe. I personally saw the three of them enter the house just now. How was I spreading rumors?”
Director Wang looked at Xu Damao coldly.
“Xu Damao, if you don’t know the facts, don’t speak recklessly. Deputy Factory Manager Wang is a special individual. The state has regulations concerning people like him. He is required to marry at least five wives.”
“What?”

“Take him away.”
Just then, the sound of breaking glass suddenly rang out. Immediately afterward, a figure resembling a large black rat shot out and quickly darted into He Yuzhu’s home.
Seeing this, Director Wang’s expression grew even uglier.
Everyone knew that Courtyard Number Ninety-Five was a model civilized courtyard under her jurisdiction. But judging by the current situation, it clearly was not civilized at all.
First, Xu Damao had recklessly spread false rumors and filed a report. Then Fool Zhu had smashed the glass of Jia Dongxu’s home.
Director Wang knew very well that today was Jia Dongxu’s wedding day.
Someone had only just gotten married, and Fool Zhu had already smashed his windows. What kind of person did that?
Section Chief Zhao was not surprised in the least. He had known for a long time what kind of person Fool Zhu was. At the factory, he behaved lawlessly; it would have been strange if he acted properly in the courtyard.

“Which bastard smashed our windows in the middle of the night?”
Madam Jia and Jia Dongxu both came outside. As soon as they emerged, they saw Director Wang walking toward them.
