Chapter 36: Settling Scores with Xu Ye!

"Zhang Xinwei, go to hell!"

Xu Zhihao cursed in a fit of rage, pulling out his phone to call Zhang Xinwei. But before the call could connect, his phone rang—it was Zhang Xinwei calling him.

"Xu Zhihao, why haven't you acknowledged the group announcement yet?"

"You are no longer the deputy manager of the Business Department. Within ten minutes, get yourself over to Supervisor Zhou in the Cleaning Department and report for duty!"

Xu Zhihao exploded in anger, slamming his hand on the desk. "Zhang Xinwei, are you out of your mind? How dare you treat me like this? Do you have any idea what you're doing?"

"Don't talk nonsense. I issued the notice; do you really think I don't know what I'm doing or what I'm saying?"

"You actually dare to talk to me like that?"

"Do you know who I am?"

"Are you really trying to get yourself killed?"

Xu Zhihao kept hitting the desk so hard his palm nearly swelled up. He was insane—Zhang Xinwei, that idiot, had completely lost his mind.

"It’s not me who’s looking for death, it’s you!"

"Xu Zhihao, do you really think you’re something special?"

"Do you have absolutely no idea what kind of stupid things you’ve done?"

Zhang Xinwei, the Human Resources manager, continued, "Enough. I don't have time for your nonsense. In short, I have officially notified you of the group's decision. You have eight minutes left. If you aren't reporting to Supervisor Zhou in the Cleaning Department in eight minutes, you can deal with the consequences yourself!"

"Zhang Xinwei!!!"

Xu Zhihao roared with uncontrollable rage, "Do you have any idea what the consequences of doing this will be?"

"I am Xu Ruowei's brother! How dare you treat me like this? Have you even considered the consequences?"

"What consequences could there possibly be?"

"And just what is Xu Ruowei, anyway?"

If this were in the past, Zhang Xinwei wouldn't have dared to say such things, but now... Thinking of Secretary Zhou's arrangements last night and the clear attitude shown by the young master, why should he, Zhang Xinwei, fear a woman who couldn't even recognize her own status?

"That's enough. This is my last word: you have six minutes left. If I don't see you within six minutes, you can just wait to be disciplined!"

With that, Zhang Xinwei hung up the phone with a sharp click before Xu Zhihao could respond.

"Damn it!"

Xu Zhihao was absolutely livid. It had to be Xu Ye—it must be that damn animal pulling the strings!

But how dare he treat me like this? How could he? Does he really not want his sister's forgiveness anymore?

While he stood there trembling with rage, the others around him exchanged glances, their faces breaking into involuntary, smug, and satisfied grins. None of them had expected retribution to arrive so quickly. It truly was the law of karma; nobody escapes the heavens.

"What do you call this? This is what happens when someone gets too arrogant for their own good."

"Some people are truly ridiculous; they don't even know their own place."

"Did he really think he could manipulate the young chairman of the Xu Group just by using a woman? Is she trimmed with gold?"

"Even gold trim isn't enough; it would at least need to be diamonds, right?"

"Tsk, tsk, how does this idiot still have the face to stay here? If it were me, I would have gotten the hell out of here long ago."

"He's still living in a daydream..."

The former sycophancy had turned into undisguised mockery. Unable to contain his fury any longer, Xu Zhihao pushed the door open and roared at everyone.

"Shut the hell up, all of you!"

"Who do you think you're talking to? Do you still think you're the deputy manager of the Business Department?"

"Get it through your head: you've been demoted. You're nothing but a toilet cleaner now!"

"Why are you barking like a dog?"

"How can you be so oblivious to your own status?"

"Do you want to go pee and look at your own reflection? Do you have any right to shout here?"

The female colleagues were mostly quiet, but several male employees who had been bullied by him in the past rolled up their sleeves, clearly wanting to teach him a lesson. Damn it, putting everything else aside, was it easy for them to earn a living? Every time they got a bonus, before it was even warm in their hands, they had to fork over at least a third as a "tribute" for his "entertainment." Why? Before, they were simply too reluctant to lose their jobs at the Xu Group, but now it was clear the young chairman didn't give a damn about him anymore—and he still dared to put on airs in front of them? That was truly asking for death.

Xu Zhihao finally realized the situation. He frantically shoved through the crowd and bolted out as if escaping. But leave just like that? That was impossible. He was going to find Xu Ye. He had to make that damn animal give him a satisfactory explanation!

"Young Master, the notice has been sent out, and Wu Hongyan has been fired according to your instructions."

In the chairman's office, Zhang Xinwei reported respectfully over the phone.

Xu Ye nodded slightly, a cold, grim smile curling his lips. Wu Hongyan was Xu Ruowei's aunt and one of the supervisors in the procurement department. After an entire day of investigation yesterday, it was clear her issues were far from minor. Xu Ye had his own reasons for firing her directly rather than handling her the way he handled Xu Zhihao.

That woman was sharp-tongued. If she found out she had been implicated because of Xu Ruowei... Wu Hongyan was no pushover; on the contrary, she was just as venomous and had no concept of "gratitude." If her interests were harmed, she would turn everything upside down, even against her own sister and niece, until the whole family gave her a satisfactory explanation.

Just then, Xu Zhihao stormed in like an angry bull. He didn't care about knocking, nor did he care that this was the chairman's office. In his eyes, the entire Xu family had to bow to him. Expect his respect? Those idiots in the Xu family weren't worthy.

"Xu Ye, was it you, you bastard, who messed with me?"

"Why the hell did you demote me and transfer me to the Cleaning Department?"

Xu Zhihao glared with wide eyes, slamming his hands on the desk.

Xu Ye hung up the phone, his gaze instantly turning ice-cold.

"First, who do you think you are? Is my name something you can just shout? Call me Young Chairman!"

"Second, who gave you permission to barge in here?"

"Do you have any manners? Do you know where this place is?!"

"Xu Ye, stop giving me that useless talk. I'm asking you: why did you demote me and transfer me to the Cleaning Department?"

In his mind, Xu Ye was only supposed to hand him benefits. What right did he have to treat him like this? Had he lost his mind, trying to turn the world upside down?!

"Isn't it just to teach you a lesson?"

"The day before yesterday, you treated my mother like that, and you treated my sister like that. As the future brother-in-law, shouldn't I give you a lesson?"

Xu Zhihao shouted with righteous indignation, not feeling that he had done anything wrong at all. He wasn't even married to his sister yet, and he was already acting this arrogant. If he didn't teach him a lesson now, how would it be in the future? This pathetic sycophant was only supposed to be obediently at their beck and call. How dare he have a temper? Was he completely out of his mind?
