Chapter Thirty-Seven: This Time, I’m Really Angry!
"Listen here, Xu Ye, you had better kneel down right now and apologize to me. Otherwise, I’ll call Ruowei immediately and see if she lets you off the hook!"
Xu Zhihao had brought Xu Ruowei into the fray as his ultimate leverage. According to his past experience, whenever Xu Ye heard the name Xu Ruowei, he would immediately become anxious and nervous, rushing to kneel before him—a tactic that had never failed.
But!
Just as he waited to see Xu Ye kneel, he heard Xu Ye let out a cold, undisguised scoff.
"Has your brain been kicked by a donkey?"
"Do you still think you can scare me by using your sister?"
"Why don't you take a good look at what your sister actually is?"
"By her? Does she really think she’s worthy of scaring me?!"
Watching Xu Ye slam the table and stand up to his full height, Xu Zhihao stared as if seeing a stranger, stuttering, "W-what do you mean?"
"What do I mean?"
"Isn't it obvious enough?"
"Get this straight: I am the young master of the Xu family. What kind of woman can't I have? Do you think I'm lacking someone like your sister?"
"When I was doting on her, your whole family could jump around in front of me as you pleased. But now? I don't care for her anymore. In fact, just seeing her makes me feel sick!"
"And you think you can use her to threaten me? What kind of dream are you living in?"
Xu Ye's voice was icy, and to Xu Zhihao, every word landed like a thunderclap.
He looked at Xu Ye in utter disbelief, his face as pale as paper, shaking his head. "Impossible. You’ve liked my sister for so long—how could you just give up like that?"
Xu Ye scoffed again. "Clearly, she was never irreplaceable."
"That's enough. I’ll say this one last time: get out of here immediately, or don't blame me for what happens next!"
"You've gone mad! You've completely lost it, Xu Ye!"
Xu Zhihao, unable to process what was happening, pointed a trembling finger at Xu Ye. To see all the benefits he had counted on vanish, only to be demoted to a bathroom cleaner—how could he possibly accept this?
Meanwhile, everyone else in the office was overjoyed, thinking to themselves that the young chairman had finally come to his senses.
Impressive. Domineering.
The dignified young chairman of the Xu Group should have been like this all along. Being led around by a manipulative, two-faced bitch was nothing but a joke.
"Who exactly is the one who has lost their mind?"
Xu Ye frowned. "Are you going to get out of here, or do you want me to call security?"
"You—"
Xu Zhihao was purple with rage, jumping up in a fury. "Xu Ye, you son of a bitch, just you wait! I will make you regret this..."
"Get out!!!"
"You damn sycophant, you..."
Xu Zhihao, completely incensed, rushed forward to strike Xu Ye, but was intercepted by two security guards who had been standing by. They took him down to the floor in seconds.
"You have a death wish. Since you threw the first punch, beat him until he's half-dead!"
The guards obeyed instantly, using both hands and feet to pummel him, causing him to howl in pain. At first, Xu Zhihao kept his mouth hard, spewing curses at Xu Ye, but as the guards intensified their efforts, his insults quickly turned into wails for mercy.
Xu Ye raised a hand, and the guards stopped.
Looking down at the man’s bruised and swollen face, Xu Ye stepped forward and patted his cheek. "Report to the cleaning department and do your job honestly. I can let what just happened slide. But don't test me—you know the power the Xu family holds. You dare to stir up trouble in front of me?"
"I have ten thousand ways to make your life worse than death!"
With a wave of his hand, the two guards grabbed him and tossed him out of the office.
"Damn you, Xu Ye! How dare you treat me like this! Just you wait, I’ll never let you get away with this!"
Facing the mocking gazes of the crowd, he fled without looking back. He had to get home as fast as possible and tell his sister, so she could give this "Xu sycophant" a taste of his own medicine. Otherwise, if he kept acting this way, he would truly turn the world upside down!
Meanwhile, Xu Ruowei and Pei An had waited in a hotel for an entire night. It was nearing noon, and yet Xu Ye hadn't called to apologize, causing Xu Ruowei’s anger to boil over.
According to their past routine, Xu Ye had never lasted this long!
Pei An was equally annoyed, his face dark. "Ruowei, this Xu sycophant is becoming completely out of line."
"He never dared to provoke you before, but look at him now. It’s been so long, and he hasn't even shown the slightest intention of apologizing."
"If you ask me, you absolutely cannot forgive him easily this time. You must teach him a harsh lesson, or he’ll just get worse and more demanding in the future."
Xu Ruowei nodded heavily; this aligned perfectly with her own thoughts.
The point was that this bastard had truly crossed a line this time—slapping her in front of so many people. It had stripped her of all her dignity.
Unforgivable. He had gone way too far!
Just then, Xu Ruowei’s phone rang.
A triumphant, cold smirk touched Pei An’s lips. "Ruowei, I told you that sycophant would come crawling back to beg for your forgiveness. Look, isn't that him now?"
Xu Ruowei thought the same, but she thought to herself: *Xu Ye, oh Xu Ye, you think you can make this young lady forgive you so easily? Don't even dream of it!*
At the very least, he would have to show up with gifts—and they had to be ones she liked and was satisfied with, otherwise...
But before the thought could finish, her expression froze.
"What's wrong, Ruowei?" Pei An frowned.
"This... it's not Xu Ye. It's my mother calling..."
Without waiting for Pei An to respond, she quickly answered the phone.
"Mom..."
"Mom your head! Where are you? Come back home immediately! Your brother has been beaten up, and that animal Xu Ye demoted him and assigned him to clean the toilets!"
"What? That damn Xu Ye, how dare he?! Is he completely lawless now?!"
When she rushed home as fast as she could, her father had also just arrived back in a panic.
Xu Zhihao was lying on the bed, bruised and swollen, groaning periodically. A single glance was enough to make Xu Ruowei’s lungs feel like they were about to explode with rage.
"Mom, brother, what on earth is going on?"
"What’s going on? Go ask that animal Xu Ye! That damn beast, he’s truly lost his mind!"
Wu Jinrong was livid, her face turning a ghastly shade of blue. She couldn't help herself and recounted everything she had heard from her son in excruciating detail.
By the time she finished, Xu Ruowei was trembling with fury, her face twisted in anger.
"Xu Ye, that damn beast... how dare he? How could he possibly dare to do this?!"
