Seeing that Xu Yang was resolute, Su Wenshan could only shake his head helplessly. After hesitating for a moment, he said, “Young man, it’s a good thing to have ambition. But the power of the Chen family is beyond your imagination. Go and try if you must, but remember—be careful in everything. Don’t throw your life away needlessly.”

With those words, he gave Xu Yang a long, searching look before turning and leaving the room.

Beside him, Su Yanran secretly let out a sigh of relief, her beautiful eyes turning toward Xu Yang.

“Are you just using this as an excuse to brush off my grandfather, or do you really intend to change the Chen family’s mind?”

“Of course it’s the latter,” Xu Yang replied, his face brimming with confidence. Having received the Emperor’s legacy, he was now full of boldness and self-assurance.

However, upon hearing this, Su Yanran’s expression grew disappointed. She shook her head and said, “Xu Yang, you overestimate yourself. With your status, you can’t even get through the Chen family’s door. You’d better leave while you still can.”

“As for me, I’ll find my own way to change my fate.”

A trace of helplessness appeared on her face as she spoke. Though the Su family was not weak, they were still far behind the Chen family in strength. At this moment, she truly felt lost, not knowing what to do.

In the face of Su Yanran’s persuasion, Xu Yang smiled faintly and said, “Don’t underestimate me. Since I, Xu Yang, have made a promise, I will see it through.”

“Well, it’s getting late. I should be going.”

With that, Xu Yang waved to Su Yanran and strode confidently out the door.

Behind him, Su Yanran watched his tall, self-assured figure, a complex look appearing on her face.

“Where does that guy get his confidence from?”

After leaving the Su family villa, Xu Yang stood in a sea of traffic, lost in thought. Since obtaining the Emperor’s legacy, not only had his abilities grown dramatically, but his entire mindset and perspective had been transformed.

Outwardly, he looked the same as ever. But deep down, he now stood above the whole of River City.

“Heh… Chen family, the so-called first family of River City. You shall be the whetstone on my path to greatness.”

Screech!

As Xu Yang’s thoughts surged, the shriek of brakes jolted him back to reality. He turned to see a black BMW come to a sudden halt at the roadside.

The window rolled down, and out leaned Zhao Ya and Zhou Jian.

“Well, well! You penniless loser, you’re still alive?” Zhou Jian’s face showed surprise to see Xu Yang standing so relaxed by the street.

“A thousand-year-old turtle, eh? Xu Yang, it seems after I put a green hat on you, your life force has become as tenacious as a tortoise’s,” Zhao Ya sneered, her tone arrogant.

At her words, a chill flashed across Xu Yang’s face. “I was just looking for you two to settle the score. Didn’t expect to run into you so soon—truly, enemies are bound to cross paths.”

Zhou Jian and Zhao Ya were stunned by the murderous edge in his voice, then burst out laughing.

“Xu Yang, you really are good at pretending! You, settle accounts with us? Who do you think you are? Young Master Zhou’s little finger is worth more than your whole life!” Zhao Ya jeered, her manner wild.

Zhou Jian jumped out of the car, swaggering up to Xu Yang. “Xu Yang, I’m in a good mood today. Kneel down and kowtow three times, and maybe I’ll let you off.”

Smack!

Xu Yang’s answer was a fierce slap.

It landed squarely on Zhou Jian’s face, the force so great that he spun around and fell heavily to the ground.

Blood trickled from Zhou Jian’s mouth, and half his face swelled instantly into a pig’s head. He was stunned—he never expected Xu Yang to possess such strength, or to strike so decisively.

Seeing Zhou Jian struck down, Zhao Ya immediately leapt out of the car, pointing at Xu Yang and cursing, “Xu Yang, you must be tired of living! How dare you lay hands on Young Master Zhou! You—”

Bang!

Before she could finish, Xu Yang kicked her hard.

With a dull thud, Zhao Ya shot backward like a cannonball, crashing atop the BMW with a shriek before passing out cold.

Zhou Jian was dumbfounded by the scene.

How could this worthless pauper possess such strength? Just hours ago, he’d been an ordinary man—how had he suddenly become so terrifying?

“You… you just wait! I’ll call my people right now—you’re dead!” Zhou Jian scrambled to his feet, backing away a dozen steps to put distance between himself and Xu Yang before shouting.

“Very well. I was hoping to stretch my muscles anyway. Be sure to call plenty of them,” Xu Yang replied coolly, his tone unruffled.

Ever since receiving the Emperor’s legacy, the power within him had been surging. Now, Xu Yang felt as if he had inexhaustible strength, and he was eager for a good fight to vent his energy.

On the other side, Zhou Jian, feeling a bit relieved at Xu Yang’s words, hurriedly pulled out his phone and began making calls.

The commotion attracted a crowd, and many onlookers gathered, whispering among themselves.

“That young man is really something. He kicked her straight through the air—what power!”

“He looks so cold and cool, damn he’s handsome.”

“Hmph, what’s so great about a man who hits women?”

“Just wait, his luck won’t last. They’re already calling for backup. He’ll be beaten down in no time.”

“Yeah, two fists can’t beat four hands. He’s way too arrogant—he’s about to get what’s coming to him.”

The crowd murmured among themselves. Xu Yang, with his keen hearing, caught every word, but his expression remained serene and composed.

Before long, two SUVs roared up and screeched to a halt beside the BMW.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The doors flew open, and over a dozen thugs, fierce and armed with machetes, leapt out.

Their leader, his arms tattooed with two black dragons, wore a vicious scowl.

When the onlookers saw him, exclamations of shock burst out.

“Oh my god, that’s Black Dragon Hall’s boss—Zhao Black Dragon!”

“It’s over! That kid is dead for sure!”

“He’s one of River City’s most dangerous men! That young guy’s luck just ran out…”

Hearing these whispers, Xu Yang’s face remained unmoved.

Zhou Jian, who had looked panicked just moments before, now grinned savagely.

“Xu Yang! You’re dead! Today I’ll cripple you—leave you unable to live or die!”
