Lu Shanyou’s throat was gripped by Gu Sha, and even the extraordinary beings from the Northwestern Bastion found themselves unable to stand idly by; they all prepared to intervene. Yet, Gu Sha, now transcendent and of kingly rank, did not even bother to glance at these lesser opponents.

“Out of my way!” he barked, stomping lightly. A terrifying surge of energy erupted, shaking the earth. Before the Northwestern transcendents could even approach, they were all sent flying, blood spilling from their mouths.

On the other side, the S City Bastion’s warriors, led by Mad Saber, who had decided early on to ally themselves with the strong, were left floundering in confusion. Each of them was righteously prepared to help, but aside from shouting their approval, they proved utterly useless. Worse yet, with weapons in hand, they looked rather foolish.

At this moment, Lu Shanyou, her neck still in Gu Sha’s grasp, struggled to resist, but found herself utterly bound by an unknown force. Despite being a seventh-rank warrior, with immense strength, she could not muster the slightest resistance.

“A mi—misunderstanding, God of Slaughter, it’s a misunderstanding…” Lu Shanyou yielded at once, forcing out the words with difficulty: “Since ancient times, scholars have no first place, warriors no second; in our pursuit of power, sometimes we forget our place. But… please, for the sake that I haven’t had a chance to offend you—”

“Hmph!” Gu Sha released her, tossing her to the ground with a cold voice: “If you’d made a move, your ending would’ve been the same as that fool’s.”

Lu Shanyou rubbed her neck, glancing at Lin Xingyun, who had been battered half to death, and suddenly felt a sense of balance return to her heart. Awe filled her eyes as she looked at Gu Sha.

“What are you waiting for? Move!” Gu Sha turned to Mad Saber and his group.

Mad Saber and his companions stared at Gu Sha in confusion, then at the battered members of the Capital and Northwestern Bastions, equally perplexed.

How were they supposed to set out now? Before they’d even begun, most of their strength had been lost!

At that moment, the bastion’s senior officials rushed over. Staring at the chaos before them, each one was stunned.

They had arrived as quickly as possible, rushing over the moment they received news of a conflict among the transcendents. Yet, upon arrival, this was the scene that greeted them.

“This…” The officials looked at each other in dismay.

The head of the Long family, who had dealt with Gu Sha before, braced himself and stepped forward. “Mr. Gu… this…”

“It’s nothing!” Gu Sha waved him off. “All of these together couldn’t even take a single hand of mine. With or without them, it hardly matters. The mission can proceed as planned.”

“This…” The Long family head hesitated.

Mad Saber stepped up, saying, “Patriarch Long, with the God of Slaughter on our side, there’s really no problem. If even he can’t handle this mission, then there’s no way the rest of us could succeed together anyway!”

“No.” The Long family head shook his head. “This task isn’t just about exploring the otherworldly space. The transcendents are also responsible for protecting the researchers. Mr. Gu’s strength is undeniable, but he’s still just one person. If something happens, he can’t possibly look after everyone.”

“Then set another date,” Gu Sha replied.

“Very well,” Patriarch Long agreed with a nod.

Gu Sha turned and left without another word.

Mad Saber hurried after him, shouting, “Wait up, boss! Let me—how did you do that just now? That move was incredible…”

As Gu Sha, Mad Saber, and the others departed, the bastion’s leaders immediately ordered that the wounded transcendents be carried away for treatment.

“This is going to cause an uproar!” The Long family head shook his head helplessly.

Another official remarked, “We’d already heard from the Capital Transcendent Association that Mr. Gu was quick-tempered, but I didn’t expect it would be to this extent!”

Patriarch Long sighed, “He’s killed plenty in the C City Bastion too, hardly a gentle soul. Still, as long as he’s not provoked, history shows he won’t kill without reason. Inform everyone: they mustn’t neglect him.”

“Agreed. He’s a ticking time bomb—one spark and he’ll go off!”

“But what a bomb he is!”

After a brief discussion, Patriarch Long said, “Let’s go, hurry back and prepare the reports. We need to send news of today’s events to the capital and raise his security clearance to the highest level—a top-secret file, no less!”

Some officials looked puzzled.

He explained, “In this era, the power Gu Sha has shown and what it means for our nation—does it mean any less than a nuclear bomb before the disaster?”

The mission’s scheduled date was thus postponed by Gu Sha’s sudden outburst.

Gu Sha returned to his hotel and rested for several days. He had expected the authorities might seek trouble, but instead, officials visited only to offer their regards.

Five days later, they set out again.

There were some personnel changes. Several of the capital’s transcendents, still recovering from Gu Sha’s beating, couldn’t join the mission and were replaced by others from the S City Bastion. Lin Xingyun still led the team.

The Northwestern Bastion fared slightly better; though all had been defeated by Gu Sha, their injuries were not severe. After a few days of recovery, most were nearly healed, and Lu Shanyou continued to lead.

As for the S City Bastion, no one had been beaten, so their lineup remained unchanged.

This time, the departure was smooth. No one sought trouble. Lin Xingyun and his team kept their distance, while Lu Shanyou of the Northwestern Bastion greeted Gu Sha of her own accord.

A dozen combat helicopters lifted off from the S City Bastion. Along the way, they encountered several attacks from flying abominations, but the transcendents in the convoy were the very best humanity had to offer and dealt with the threats easily.

After several hours of flight, they reached the primeval forest.

Once the aircraft touched down at the designated spot, the armed transcendents spread out on alert and began setting up temporary workstations. The research specialists busied themselves with their instruments and equipment, preparing for their work.

This was where Gu Sha’s knowledge failed him. The specialists explained that their instruments could detect spatial fluctuations and locate spatial fissures, and they had even brought in several practitioners with spatial abilities to assist.

Gu Sha kept entirely out of it, lying in the helicopter and waiting.

The earlier display of force had its effect—no one dared disturb him.

However, on the third night, as Gu Sha was resting, he suddenly opened his eyes, sensing a powerful tremor. Sure enough, Mad Saber’s voice came through his Bluetooth earpiece: “Boss, we’ve found the spatial fissure!”
