This time, no one dared to stand in Gu Sha’s way.

However, many faces looked grim. Lin Xingyun turned and left at once, heading off to report to the Bastion. At that moment, Academician Chen, following Gu Sha’s instructions, opened the cabin.

The massive cabin split into two sections. Under an enormous surge of energy, the cabin parted to either side. In the middle, a series of black spatial rifts appeared, turbulent with strange patterns and energies.

Suddenly, a terrifying suction force erupted from the black rift. Many instruments began to shake, and dust on the ground swirled madly into the fissure. Everyone quickly retreated to a safe distance.

A deep, resonant hum filled the air, as if dozens of helicopters were operating at once. When the rift had widened to about two meters, Academician Chen shouted into the intercom from afar, “Mr. Gu, we’ve reached the limit!”

Gu Sha made a slight gesture. The Mad Blade, standing a dozen meters away, immediately began directing his men to adjust the missile launchers’ angles. Soon, at Gu Sha’s command, the order was given.

With a thunderous boom, the first missile launched and shot straight into the spatial rift. Immediately after, more blasts followed—eight missiles in total were fired into the rift.

The spatial fissure’s turbulence was terrifying. Once the missiles were launched, Gu Sha signaled Academician Chen to close the cabin.

Receiving the cue, Academician Chen quickly initiated the closing sequence. It took a while, but the cabin finally sealed shut. Instantly, the wild winds ceased and the thunderous roar stopped abruptly.

Before long, Lin Xingyun, ice-cold, walked over with a satellite phone in hand. “Mr. Gu, the head of the Long family at S City Bastion wishes to speak with you.”

Gu Sha took the phone. “This is Gu Sha.”

On the other end came the patriarch of the Long family, his voice strained, clearly suppressing his anger. “Mr. Gu, what happened over there?”

Gu Sha replied calmly, “Lin Xingyun should have reported it to you already. It’s as simple as this: I needed to throw a few things into the spatial rift. Lu Shanyou tried to stop me, so I killed him. That’s it.”

The Long patriarch’s tone was grave. “Mr. Gu, I hope you can give me a reasonable explanation. Otherwise, I truly have no way to answer to the Northwest Bastion or the capital. I don’t suspect you of extremism, but your actions are inexplicable.”

Gu Sha’s voice remained indifferent. “What explanation do you need? I discovered something wrong with that alternate space. It’s likely not a source of life for humanity, but rather a greater catastrophe.”

“That counts as a reason,” the Long patriarch replied. “But how am I supposed to explain this to the Northwest and the capital? The research on the spatial rift is being conducted by scientists, and there are other extraordinary individuals present. None of them have detected a problem…”

“That’s because their level is too low,” Gu Sha said. “If you insist on knowing how I found out, it’s simply because I’m strong enough—only I can sense it. Will that do?”

“It will,” the Long patriarch replied. “Mr. Gu, I want to know—what stage are you at now? Eighth-tier extraordinary? Or even higher? Have you unlocked all nine gene locks?”

Gu Sha answered slowly, “Beyond the ninth tier. That’s the only explanation you need. If the authorities can explain it, do. If not, do as you see fit—I’ll accept whatever comes.”

With that, Gu Sha hung up the phone.

At that moment, inside a conference room at the S City Bastion, all the high-ranking officials were present, having listened to the entire conversation between Gu Sha and the Long patriarch. When they heard Gu Sha’s final words, the room was filled with shock and astonishment.

“Hurry!” the Long patriarch commanded. “Pull up the footage from the military base incident a few days ago. Also, summon all the gene research experts from the Extraordinary Association at once!”

The office instantly erupted into chaos as senior officials rushed about. A team of experts specializing in gene lock development stared at computer screens, analyzing data.

At last, the lead expert announced, “After a rapid comparative analysis, we are ninety percent certain—Gu Sha has indeed surpassed the nine gene locks!”

The higher-ups were both stunned and elated.

“But isn’t the human body supposed to have only nine gene locks?” the Long patriarch asked.

An expert explained, “According to the data previously sent from C City Bastion, the mysterious power unleashed by that scepter controlled by Bai Ziyu of the Purification Society had already led us to suspect the existence of power beyond the gene locks. Just now, after rigorously analyzing Gu Sha’s battle at the military base, we found that the energy he displayed cannot be achieved through unlocking gene locks alone. It appears he can project energy outside his body!”

Pointing at the screen, the expert continued, “Look here—when Gu Sha stomped his foot, the ground shook violently, yet the floor itself wasn’t damaged, not even the tiles. But an extraordinary person several meters away was sent flying. It’s like the martial arts technique of striking across space! If we use martial arts as an analogy, unlocking gene locks is the birth of power, but Gu Sha has reached the stage where he can release inner strength externally—a whole new level.”

The expert grew increasingly excited. “Gu Sha will show humanity a new path. He is far ahead of his time. He may become the greatest figure of the Cataclysm Era!”

The senior officials exchanged glances, awe in their eyes.

The Long patriarch’s voice was deep. “Report to the capital immediately—Gu Sha is one of our Long Continent people. His breakthrough could mean that our continent will become the leader of humanity in the Cataclysm Era!”

At this point, no one mentioned Gu Sha’s killing anymore.

In this age, the hope for humanity’s survival and progress surpasses everything. In an era of civilization, being half a step ahead makes you a genius; a full step ahead makes you a madman. But in today’s world, a full step ahead makes you a god among men.

Deep within the primeval forest, Gu Sha was unaware that his casual mention of having surpassed the ninth tier had already caused a stir at the S City Bastion—a disturbance that would continue to spread, affecting the entire Long Continent and even humanity worldwide.

For now, he was quietly cultivating in a tent, waiting.

Two days passed thus, and as the cooldown period for the spatial cabin neared its end, Gu Sha once again activated his ability to foresee the future.

Ten minutes later, the cooldown expired. Gu Sha led his team into the spatial rift.

After a bout of spatial turbulence, they entered the barrier once more, emerging in a field of ruins.

But when they saw the scene before them, they were stunned.

The city lay in utter devastation. The casualties were horrific; everywhere were severed limbs, the gravely wounded, and countless zombies.

It was easy to distinguish humans from zombies—the latter’s flesh was decayed, their blood black as ink, and unless their brain nerves were destroyed, zombies would never die.
