Chapter Ninety-Three: The Invasion of the World
Gu Sha suddenly opened fire, catching everyone off guard.
Mad Blade, who was just about to shake hands with the base leader, instinctively tried to intervene. Yet, the next instant, he witnessed something that left him utterly stunned.
The base leader, whom he had always thought was just an ordinary person, withstood an entire barrage from the Gatling gun. He wasn’t exactly unscathed, but there were no serious injuries—his clothes were torn, but not a drop of blood was spilled.
“Kill!”
Gu Sha tossed the Gatling aside, shouted, and drew the King’s Bone, swinging it at the leader.
With a dull thud, the leader actually took the blow head-on, was knocked flying back, and crashed into the people behind him. But in blocking with both arms, he suffered a tremendous impact and they broke instantly.
Yet, in the very next moment, something bizarre happened.
Though both his arms were broken, the leader got up as if he felt no pain at all. With a look of disbelief, he asked, “How did you... figure it out?”
Gu Sha wasted no words.
He strode forward, reached out, and with a surge of inscription power, summoned the primordial energy in the air, forming cyclones that pulled the leader toward him.
The leader’s face changed drastically and he roared, “You—”
With a resounding crack, Gu Sha crushed the leader’s head with his bare hand. Black blood and brain matter spattered everywhere, and a corpse core dropped into Gu Sha’s palm.
A ninth-grade corpse core—the highest grade Gu Sha had ever encountered in this life.
At the same time, Lin Xingyun, Mad Blade, and the others finally snapped out of their shock. Though they didn’t fully understand what had just happened, they all recognized the truth:
These people were zombies!
A sudden barrage of gunfire and explosions erupted as the extraordinary squad launched their assault.
Gripping the King’s Bone, Gu Sha swiftly seized several senior figures, snapped their arms and legs, and tossed them to Mad Blade and the others.
Then, he charged deep into the base, leaving no survivors in his path.
He headed straight for the hidden munitions depot he recalled from his visions of the future.
Upon reaching the depot, he radioed Mad Blade and the others, ordering a retreat.
Not long after Mad Blade and his group fled the base, dragging the battered senior staff with them—
A thunderous explosion ripped through the air, as if the world itself had been cleansed and made whole. The entire base was swallowed by fire in an instant, the force of the blast surging outward like monstrous waves upon a stormy sea.
Even though Mad Blade and the others had escaped far away, they couldn’t entirely avoid the shockwave. Even as extraordinary beings, they found themselves thrown into the rubble, emerging covered in dust and ash.
After a long while, everyone slowly climbed out of the debris, only to see the base reduced to ruins, still awash in fire.
But Gu Sha stepped out from the heart of the explosion, carrying a bone, unhurried and composed. Glancing at the astonished Mad Blade and his companions, he said calmly, “Follow me.”
Mad Blade and the others hurried after Gu Sha, dragging the crippled senior staff with them.
Soon, the group reached a dilapidated residential complex and entered a house that was just barely intact.
Gu Sha had chosen this spot deliberately; there were no powerful zombies in the vicinity.
He left a few people outside to keep watch.
Inside, Mad Blade and the others dumped the wounded senior staff onto the floor, where they lay like heaps of broken flesh.
“Psychics,” Gu Sha called out.
Immediately, three extraordinary individuals stepped forward.
Gu Sha glanced at them and estimated that all three were at the third tier of psychic ability.
He then dragged one of the senior staff into a small room.
“Attack with your psychic powers,” he ordered.
Gu Sha mimicked the method he had used against Bai Ziyu of the Purification Society. The psychics assaulted the senior staff’s mind, while Gu Sha used his powers of time and inscription to seize control of the man's consciousness.
This time, Gu Sha had already reached the rank of Battle King, and these psychics were much stronger than those he had worked with before. The process was far easier than when they’d dealt with Bai Ziyu.
Under Gu Sha’s interrogation, the senior staff member soon began to reveal what he knew. Gu Sha repeated the process with several others, and by the fourth interrogation, he had more or less pieced together the truth of this alternate dimension.
Everyone’s expressions grew grave.
The Celestial Origin Realm was real, but contrary to what Mad Blade previously believed, it had not been destroyed. In fact, it still existed, and it was incredibly powerful—so much so that Earth could not hope to resist it.
The Celestial Origin Realm was a vast cosmos, existing parallel to Earth’s universe, both equally boundless.
But over a thousand years ago, catastrophe struck the Celestial Origin Realm. Similar to what Earth now faced, the Crimson descended, the apocalypse arrived, and countless zombies and zombie beasts emerged. That world did not last long before it was completely overrun.
Humanity became livestock, while zombies and zombie beasts ruled the world.
After more than a thousand years of evolution, a new and complete civilization had emerged. Yet, endless wars for scarce resources raged among the various races.
A few years ago, for reasons unknown, Earth’s universe and the Celestial Origin Realm—once separate—somehow intersected. And not just Earth; many star systems in this universe became entangled with the Celestial Origin Realm.
For the Celestial Origin Realm, locked in unending war over insufficient resources, this intersection was a heaven-sent opportunity—they could invade other worlds to relieve their own shortages.
However, the universe possesses its own protective mechanisms. Though the intersection was slight, the Celestial Origin Realm could not launch a full-scale invasion. The greater the disturbance, the fiercer the backlash.
After much deliberation, the powers of the Celestial Origin Realm devised a plan: forcibly split off a small subspace—much like launching a space station for exploration—and use it to gradually deepen their connection to Earth’s universe. Because it was just a tiny, independent space, the energy consumption was minimal and would not trigger a major backlash from the universe.
Strictly speaking, Earth was just one of countless anchor points chosen for invasion by the Celestial Origin Realm.
This small world, severed from the Celestial Origin Realm, had been adjoining Earth for nearly ten years. During that time, they had used various methods to probe and study Earth, and expected to establish a stable anchor and merge with Earth in another three years.
Gu Sha looked down at the senior staff member and asked, “According to what you said, you should have three more years before you can fix the spatial coordinates. Why did you find the anchor point so much sooner?”
“It was an accident, a complete accident. We received notification from the Celestial Origin Realm,” the man replied. “According to your Earth’s calendar, on May 10th this year, a surge of temporal power swept across many universes, causing time to accelerate within the chaos. That’s why we docked with Earth three years ahead of schedule!”
