"Speak less, Ni Xiaoxiao, go and attend to your guests right now!" Manager Huang lost his composure, resorting to his authority as a supervisor to suppress Xiaoxiao temporarily. Meanwhile, Zeng Ziyu stood frozen in place as if someone had dumped a pot of boiling water over his head, his eyes vacant and lifeless.

Xiaoxiao felt as though her lips were worn raw from talking. At this point, any words were utterly useless, and she could not be bothered to waste any more time on Zeng Ziyu. She tossed out a light, indifferent remark: "Whatever kind of life you lead, it is yours. As long as you can bear the consequences, ruin it however you please!"

Cai Yirou had no desire to remain a mere bystander. Seeing that no one else dared to approach Xiaoxiao, she rushed over regardless of the consequences and patted Xiaoxiao's back to help her catch her breath. "Don't be angry anymore, please. Why don't I go shopping and grab some food with you later?" Perhaps Xiaoxiao had not lost her reason entirely; recognizing that the person approaching was Cai Yirou, she managed to swallow all her blazing anger.

"Xiaoxiao," Zeng Ziyu called out to her abruptly. She did not turn around, yet she still came to a halt. With profound melancholy, Zeng Ziyu said, "I'm sorry. I know I've let both of you down."

Xiaoxiao took a deep breath. From the very beginning, she had never imagined that this marriage would deteriorate to this point. She had no wish to play the villain, nor did she want to talk herself hoarse cursing out someone who had become irrelevant to her. Struggling to steady her emotions, she said with a tone of regret, "The person you've failed isn't me or Huamei—it's yourself." Turning to Cai Yirou, she said, "There are still a few details I'd like to discuss with you. Shall we go inside and talk?" Cai Yirou glanced back at Zeng Ziyu, who had stirred up such a storm, giving him a meaningful look.

Catching sight of the departing Cai Yirou, Zeng Ziyu felt she looked somewhat familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before.

After going over numerous points to keep in mind for the upcoming meeting, Cai Yirou seemed exceptionally intrigued by the prospective suitor. Noticing the way Cai Yirou's eyes lit up as she reviewed the man's profile, Xiaoxiao could not help but study the documents more closely as well. Pondering over it, she realized that besides being rather handsome, the man shared something else with Cai Yirou—they both had backgrounds of studying abroad. No doubt they would have plenty of common topics to discuss once they met.

"If you don't have any questions, I'll go ahead and set a time with him."

Cai Yirou replied, "There's no rush. The best things are always worth daydreaming about a little before you finally make a move."

Xiaoxiao praised Cai Yirou for having such a unique personality. Shifting the conversation, Cai Yirou asked, "That person just now—was he a friend of yours, or a client?"

Reluctant to bring up Zeng Ziyu at all, Xiaoxiao replied with a careless shrug, "You could say he's a friend."

To her surprise, Cai Yirou immediately pressed further. "What's wrong with him that made you so furious? Although I haven't known you long, I can tell you aren't someone who loses her temper easily. He must have done something outrageously wrong."

"Is that so?" Xiaoxiao was unsure whether she was answering Cai Yirou or asking herself. Finally, she muttered almost to herself, "Who can really distinguish right from wrong? Perhaps it's just that everyone views things from a different perspective. It's much like how I might think a man is right for you, but you end up disliking him—in the end, one always knows what's best for oneself." Even so, she still felt that Zeng Ziyu was being utterly foolish.
