Chapter 125: A Peaceful Departure
Li Ang was stunned.
Looking at Du Fang, who wore a sunny smile and showed not the slightest sense of crisis, the restless agitation in Li Ang’s heart and the surging grey mist within him suddenly went quiet. The fluctuations ceased, the turbulence vanished... It was as if he had finally found his backbone.
This damned sense of security!
No... Li Ang shook his head violently. Security, my foot! What on earth was he thinking? Why would he even have such a thought, such a sense of security?
Du Fang was merely a high-ranking Dream Weaver. Even if he could defeat a City-Level threat, the gap between a City-Level entity and a National-Collapse-Level fiend was immense. Even Zhao Lingyin, when faced with a National-Collapse-Level existence, had virtually no chance of winning. Though Du Fang had defeated Zhao Lingyin in their match, Li Ang felt that even if Du Fang were stronger, it wouldn't be by much.
The surrounding walls of magma compressed inward, the air growing increasingly scorching, causing every pore to expand in a desperate search for breath.
Du Fang looked at the magma walls and the rivers of flowing lava below. A Fallen God that mastered fire—where there was fire, there was the Dragon-Man. A formidable ability, Du Fang marveled.
"To break this deadlock, the key lies in locating the Dragon-Man," Li Ang said, looking at Du Fang. He knew a Fallen God lay dormant within Du Fang. Perhaps he intended to use that power? "Do you know how to track it?"
Li Ang’s eyes lit up. Perhaps Du Fang’s Fallen God excelled at tracking?
"No," Du Fang shook his head.
Li Ang faltered. If he couldn't track it, the Dragon-Man Fallen God would remain in an invincible position.
"But I have a special tracking technique," Du Fang added.
With that, Du Fang’s mind stirred, and he began to float amidst the scorching air. He was in a hurry; he didn't have time to waste here. According to Li Ang’s analysis, the White Jade Priest was likely heading into Jiangling City, which meant the downtown area might face a great terror. If it were the old Du Fang, he might not have cared much, but now, the city held too many people he cared about: the little assistant, Old Zhang, Chen Xi, Su Jiuming, and the other members of the Wildfire Squad. There were also acquaintances like Dr. Lin and Senior Wen. Du Fang could not sit idly by while Jiangling City was ravaged. Jiangling was where his beautiful new life had begun, and he hoped that beauty would continue.
Beside him, the burly Shizuka protected Li Ang, watching Du Fang drift off alone with a look of tragic heroism in her eyes. "Our Great Xia Dream Weavers are all heroes! Facing evil, they know no fear!" she growled. If Du Fang died, she would surely avenge him.
The grey mist in Li Ang’s eyes surged. What was Du Fang doing? How did he intend to locate the Dragon-Man? No matter how he thought about it, he couldn't figure it out. Du Fang’s ability was air control; it was good, but compared to a domain, it was lacking. It was simply impossible to pinpoint the Dragon-Man’s location!
"Du Fang, what exactly is your trump card?" Li Ang stared at him, his grey pupils reflecting the man floating in the sky.
Suddenly! Li Ang’s pupils contracted. "Watch out!"
A rain of magma began to fall from the sky. Du Fang’s body was surrounded by swirling currents that deflected the falling lava. But as a single drop of magma brushed past Du Fang’s neck, a dark golden eye suddenly appeared within it. A twisted Dragon-Man face emerged, accompanied by a cold, mocking laugh.
The Dragon-Man manifested instantly, its freezing claws reaching out to snap Du Fang’s neck. "Mortal, since you seek death, I shall grant it! It is your honor to die by the hands of the Divine!" The Dragon-Man’s voice dripped with undisguised mockery.
Murderous intent flooded the air.
However, Du Fang did not even turn his head. He merely said softly, "Wife, Scarlet Form."
BOOM!
Instantly, the Dragon-Man’s claws froze in mid-air, unable to move a fraction further. The Dragon-Man’s dark golden eyes stalled in shock. Around Du Fang, red currents began to surge, and his black trench coat turned blood-red. A tornado-like vortex of energy swirled around him like a pillar of wind.
BANG!
The Dragon-Man’s arm was instantly sucked in and shredded. Du Fang raised a hand, a playing card appearing in his grip. He glanced at the Dragon-Man and flicked it. The card spun at high speed, slicing through the Dragon-Man’s head like a razor-sharp blade.
The Dragon-Man dissolved into a spray of magma.
Silence returned to the area. The sky continued to rain lava. In the distance, Li Ang and his wife frowned.
"That’s the transformation ability Du Fang used to defeat Lingyin... It’s strong, significantly boosting his aura and power. But it’s not enough," Li Ang said. "Power alone cannot locate this Fallen God’s avatar. Without finding its position, we will be worn down. Fallen Gods, even their avatars, have virtually infinite Dream Energy. We are the ones who will be exhausted to death."
The burly Shizuka was also frustrated. As a physical-type Dream Weaver, she hated such slippery opponents—those who wouldn't fight head-on and preferred to play dirty.
Suddenly, Li Ang froze. He stared at Du Fang, who was enveloped in the blood-red whirlwind. In the depths of his pupils, the grey mist revealed a hint of shock and disbelief.
He saw a pig. A small, pink piggy bank! As Du Fang’s red coat fluttered, the small pink pig appeared out of thin air, its eyes rolling around playfully.
"A pig?" the burly Shizuka roared. What was Du Fang doing? What was the use of a pig? Was he feeding the Dragon-Man? Making roast suckling pig? It wasn't even enough for a single bite!
As Du Fang’s strength grew, the "family" became increasingly adept at hiding their aura. If they didn't want to be perceived, they could easily remain undetected. Shizuka was a national-level Dream Weaver, yet she couldn't sense the terror in the little pig, Qiqi.
But Li Ang could... His Eyes of Grey Mist seemed to perceive a great horror! It was as if... that wasn't a pig at all! It was a terrifying existence capable of destroying the entire world!
Li Ang’s body began to tremble. Was the Fallen God inside Du Fang truly such a terrifying thing?
Little Qiqi seemed to sense Li Ang’s gaze. The pig head turned slightly, and it flashed a mocking smile in Li Ang’s direction. It was a demonic smile.
Then, Li Ang watched as Du Fang casually tossed the pig down into the magma. The pink pig, wearing that demonic smile, fell toward the sea of fire.
From within the lava, a cold, mocking laugh drifted out. "Is this your solution? You intend to find the Divine’s location with a pig? Human... you are truly ridiculous!"
THUD!
Little Qiqi plunged into the sea of fire. Not a single spark flew up.
Then, the entire river of magma went quiet. The boiling stopped. Finally... the flames rapidly extinguished, and the lava cooled and solidified.
The Dragon-Man had departed in peace.
