Chapter 157: How to Properly Placate an Angry Girlfriend
Kato Mifū caught up from behind and naturally grabbed Tsunade’s small hand. "Let's go home and eat. You used up so much energy in the office this afternoon, so I'm going to cook something special to help you recover."
"Pfft, nothing good ever comes out of a dog's mouth. What do you mean I used up my energy? It's all because you were messing around and acting up this afternoon!" Tsunade glanced at the hand held by her boyfriend, gave it a shake, but couldn't break free. "Did you buy the groceries?"
"My fault, my fault, I used up a lot of energy and want to eat something good to recover. I bought the groceries, and there's still some of the love bento I made you at noon left over."
"On the way to pick you up at the hospital just now, I stopped by to buy some more. They're all your favorite—uh, all my favorite things."
"Hmph, were you that bored waiting for me? Bored enough to stare blankly at a pretty nurse? Was that nurse from just now so good-looking?"
Tsunade let out a dainty huff. While speaking, she broke free from Kato Mifū’s grip, skillfully felt her way to the soft flesh on his waist, found the exact spot, and pinched down hard.
Of course Tsunade knew her boyfriend hadn't been staring blankly at a beauty; who knew what wild thoughts were running through his head just then. It wasn't the first time she had seen him zone out.
Tsunade just wanted an excuse to pinch the soft flesh on Kato Mifū’s waist. Who told Kato Mifū to bully her so terribly in the office this afternoon, and more importantly, caused her to work overtime until now? She hadn't cleared her anger yet.
Since she had to leave her boyfriend some face—his ears couldn't be pinched—the soft flesh on his waist was the best choice.
"Hiss!"
Kato Mifū sucked in a sharp breath. He was genuinely pinched to the point of pain, and he didn't dare use ninjutsu to resist, as Tsunade was clearly still in the heat of her anger.
If she wasn't allowed to vent the stifled frustration in her chest, Kato Mifū wouldn't have an easy time tonight, and he still wanted to comfort the two fluffy white bunnies tonight...
Hearing her boyfriend gasp, Tsunade asked softly and concernedly, "What's wrong?"
As she asked, the little hand resting on Kato Mifū’s waist didn't forget to twist another full circle.
"Uh!... A mosquito, right, a mosquito just bit me." Kato Mifū looked at his girlfriend, whose eyes were curved into crescent moons with a smile, and answered very prudently.
Tsunade said with a sweet, delicate smile, "Is that so? Mifū, you say it's almost winter, a cold autumn wind is blowing past, so where on earth do so many mosquitoes come from in Konoha Village?"
As she spoke, Tsunade deliberately shivered, indicating that the autumn wind blowing on the streets of Konoha Village was very cold, and it made her very cold too.
Someone muttered under his breath, "...! It's all because of you tigress pinching me."
Tsunade’s little ears were very sharp, and she immediately pursued, "Huh? What? Mifū, speak up. The wind is really strong tonight, I can't hear clearly what you're saying."
And towards the end, Tsunade’s tone changed from the previous sweet, spoiled cooing into a harsh, frigid voice.
A drop of cold sweat rolled down Kato Mifū’s forehead. A bone-chilling autumn wind swept past, and a solitary withered leaf fluttered down from the tree beside the street.
Kato Mifū rolled his dead-fish eyes around, watching that falling leaf flutter right in front of him, temporarily unable to think of a good excuse to appease his angry girlfriend.
"Mifū, I asked you a question, speak..."
Tsunade switched back to a sweet, spoiled voice, while the little hand still resting on Kato Mifū’s waist gave another forceful twist.
Kindly worried that she might break her boyfriend, she reversed the direction of the pinch right on the spot, executing the twist with just the right amount of force—neither too much nor too little.
Double the pain, double the joy...
Kato Mifū’s face turned pale from the pinching. "Hiss, it's Jiraiya, it's Jiraiya! It's all that white-haired guy's fault for seducing all the female toads in Konoha, which is why mosquitoes are plaguing Konoha Village now! It must be because of him."
Because the pinching hurt too much, Kato Mifū casually fabricated a black pot and slapped it onto the head of his old classmate.
If he didn't divert Tsunade's attention soon, Kato Mifū figured his old waist wouldn't survive. He wanted to go and pull away the little hand on his waist, but after thinking about it, prudently didn't dare.
Right at that moment, another bone-chilling autumn wind swept down the street, and even with Kato Mifū’s physique, he felt a wave of chilliness. His dead-fish eyes rolled around, and he thought of an idea to pacify Tsunade's anger.
"Next time I see that white-haired Jiraiya, I'll definitely make him release Konoha's female toads. What kind of person is he, so desperate he won't even spare female toads? Is there any justice left?"
While continuing to randomly dump blame onto Jiraiya, Kato Mifū took off the robe he was wearing and quickly draped it over Tsunade's shoulders.
"Princess, you're right, this autumn wind is blowing much too coldly!"
"Come on, put on this robe. When I bought the sofa last time, I bought it together from the Land of Feathers. The lining is warm down, it's super cozy."
While saying flattering, gentle words, Kato Mifū imitated the way Tsunade had shivered just now, exaggeratedly shaking and trembling.
Thinking it still wasn't pitiful enough, he brought his cleverness into play, applying it on the spot by adding his teeth to the performance, clacking his upper and lower jaws together to make a chattering sound.
"Hmph!" Tsunade wrinkled her nose, glanced sideways at the robe draped over her shoulders, and then looked at her boyfriend shivering in the cold wind.
Although she knew her boyfriend was just putting on an act—this bit of cold wind and low temperature couldn't freeze him at all, since the current temperature was not even lower than the icy grapes he made bare-handed using Wind Release chakra—the frustration pent up in Tsunade's chest still smoothed out quite a bit.
"Consider yourself tactful! Let's go, hurry home and make me some good food, I'm hungry."
Tsunade finally released the soft flesh on her boyfriend's waist, brushed past him, and walked quickly forward.
"Phew..." Watching Tsunade's expression finally transition from overcast to partly cloudy, Kato Mifū let out a secret sigh of relief, thinking that he had finally managed to coax his angry girlfriend more or less.
"Wait for me, Tsunade."
Kato Mifū hurried after Tsunade and, just like a short while ago, naturally grabbed one of her small hands.
"What do you want for dinner? I'll cook whatever you like."
"Didn't you say it was the leftovers from noon?"
Just like before, noticing Kato Mifū holding her hand, Tsunade gave a firm tug, but couldn't pull it free.
"How can we do that? To thank Her Highness the Princess for her broad mind and sparing the little guy, of course I have to satisfy Her Highness's demands. Whatever you want to eat tonight, just name it."
"You jerk!"
Tsunade completely smoothed out the frustration trapped in her chest from working overtime, scolded Kato Mifū ungraciously, finally revealed a long-lost smile, and stopped struggling against the small hand being held by Kato Mifū, letting him hold it.
"Cold?" Tsunade tightened the robe around her body and asked Kato Mifū with tender concern.
This time it was genuine concern. From cloudy to clear skies, Tsunade had truly been completely coaxed by Kato Mifū.
Having experienced his girlfriend's expression go from overcast to partly cloudy, and from partly cloudy to clear skies, Kato Mifū finally let out a complete sigh of relief, thinking to himself that tonight he could finally comfort the two fluffy white bunnies.
As for the white-haired ninja who had been scapegoated by Kato Mifū, he had long been thrown to the back of his mind.
What are good brothers for, if not to take the blame when being interrogated by your girlfriend? Does a good brother have any other purpose?
