Chapter 135: He Also Wants to Find His Father
"Shaokun, you've come at just the right time!"
The panicked Zhao Qinglong was instantly overjoyed, as if he had finally found his backbone, and hurried forward to greet him.
"Uncle, I see many people beaten and injured below. What happened?" the young man asked.
Zhao Qinglong pointed at Ye Tianci, "It's this brat surnamed Ye causing trouble in my hall! But Deputy Pavilion Master Yao is actually favoring him; instead of punishing him, he's making things difficult for my hall."
The young man nodded with a sneer, stepped forward twice, and stared proudly at Yao Wu. "Deputy Pavilion Master Yao, you are being unfair here."
"Zhong Shaokun, there is no need for you to teach me how to do my job," Yao Wu said with a stern face.
*Snap!*
The young man in the red suit elegantly snapped open a folding fan. He fanned himself slowly in front of his chest, narrowed his eyes, and smiled. "Deputy Pavilion Master Yao, I, Zhong Shaokun, naturally have no right to teach you how to do your job, but what about my father?"
"My father is the master of the Lingjiang Martial Arts Hall. If he were here, he would say the same thing as me."
Zhong Shaokun flexed his fist, his expression even more arrogant. "Don't think that just because you are a Deputy Pavilion Master of the Sky Patrol Pavilion, you can act as you please. Society today values strength. In the face of real power, no matter how high your rank is, it is all in vain!"
"That's right, this is a society that values strength!" Zhao Qinglong chimed in.
Yao Wu's brow furrowed. Zhong Shaokun was right; he didn't need to give Zhong Shaokun any face, but his father, Zhong Xiuyuan, was a different story. Zhong Xiuyuan was the master of the Lingjiang Martial Arts Hall and a master on the Profound Ranking! There were no more than three people in Shu City who could go toe-to-toe with him. Even Yao Wu dared not act rashly in his presence.
Observing Yao Wu's expression, Zhao Qinglong chuckled triumphantly. "Deputy Pavilion Master, just pretend you said nothing just now. Now, you can restate your position." He was playing the fox masquerading as the tiger to perfection.
Ye Tianci stepped forward. "In Shu City, no one can threaten Deputy Pavilion Master Yao."
"Is there a place for you to speak here? Who do you think you are?" Zhong Shaokun snapped coldly.
Ye Tianci squinted at him. "If you don't want trouble, you'd better shut up!"
Zhong Shaokun's face turned icy with sudden rage. "What kind of day is this? A stray dog dares to bark in front of me?" He gestured to the four men behind him. "You four, teach him a lesson!"
The four men stepped out simultaneously, arms crossed, their faces fierce. "Young Master, to what extent?" one of them asked.
Zhong Shaokun glared and barked, "Do I need to spell it out? Break his legs! Throw him out onto the street! Whether he lives or dies is his own business!"
"You got it!" "Don't worry, Young Master."
The four large men grinned hideously and lunged at Ye Tianci. Each of them stood about 1.9 meters tall, broad-shouldered and thick-necked, with fists like mortars. It was clear at a glance that they were not ordinary bodyguards, but trained martial artists.
Facing the four, Ye Tianci didn't retreat but advanced, taking a diagonal step forward and smashing a fist into the leading man.
"You suicidal trash! You're courting death!"
The man let out a disdainful roar, his large fist meeting Ye Tianci's like an iron hammer.
*Crack!*
"Aaaah!"
The moment the sound of breaking bone echoed, the man's scream followed. His burly body stumbled back repeatedly, landing on his rear, before flipping backward and landing on his knees!
When the man raised his head, his face was filled with terror. The other three had been sent flying back several meters just like him, all of them injured—and severely so!
Ye Tianci had injured all four of them in the blink of an eye, leaving the men stunned in place. This guy was incredibly strong!
*Clap, clap, clap.*
Zhong Shaokun clapped his hands lightly, looking at Ye Tianci with a smile. "I didn't expect you to be a martial practitioner as well, and your strength is not bad at all. No wonder you dare to be arrogant in front of me. You have some capital, after all!"
"There are many things you haven't expected," Ye Tianci said coldly.
"So what?" Zhong Shaokun sneered, standing with his hands behind his back, his folding fan swaying gently. "In Shu City, no one dares touch a hair on my head!"
"Now, I order you to kneel and apologize to my uncle!"
Zhao Qinglong quickly stepped up. "Shaokun, teach this brat surnamed Ye a lesson!"
"Don't worry, Uncle. I will definitely punish him severely and vent your anger!" Zhong Shaokun turned back. "Brat, break your own arms, or I won't let you see the stars tonight. I, Zhong Shaokun, keep my word—I never exaggerate!"
Ye Tianci raised an eyebrow. "And if I don't?"
"You are welcome to try," Zhong Shaokun said with a curl of his lip.
"Fine. Let's try it then." Ye Tianci returned the sentiment, a cold, alluring arc forming on his lips.
"Interesting, truly interesting!" Zhong Shaokun stared at Ye Tianci and began to clap slowly again. "I didn't think there was anyone in Shu City as suicidal as you. You probably don't know who I am, do you?"
"If you knew my true identity, you wouldn't dare say such things for the rest of your life; you would only be kneeling on the ground begging for mercy."
Zhong Shaokun tried to intimidate Ye Tianci with his status again.
"Aren't you just the young master of the Lingjiang Martial Arts Hall? In my eyes, you are just as mediocre as Zhao Qinglong!" Ye Tianci sneered.
"You're looking for death!"
Zhong Shaokun, provoked into a rage, let out a roar and leaped into the air, his right leg whipping out like a lash toward Ye Tianci's head.
Ye Tianci didn't dodge. He struck out with a single palm, meeting the kick head-on.
*Boom!*
A dull thud echoed as Ye Tianci's palm connected with the sole of Zhong Shaokun's foot. Zhong Shaokun's body was sent flying! He landed on the ground, stumbling seven or eight steps before finally steadying himself.
Ye Tianci stood exactly where he was, hands behind his back, not having swayed even an inch from start to finish!
Zhong Shaokun looked dazed, a storm of shock raging within him. How could Ye Tianci feel even more powerful than his own father? How was that possible? The boy looked to be about his age, yet his strength was overwhelming! The pain radiating from his right leg told him he was injured—and not lightly! In just one move, he had been defeated! And defeated so cleanly, so humiliatingly!
"Brat, tell me your name!" Zhong Shaokun gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with malice.
"Then you're going to be disappointed."
"What do you mean?"
"Because you aren't qualified to know!" Ye Tianci's voice remained calm.
"Damn you, you're too arrogant!" Zhong Shaokun roared. Unable to contain his fury, he lunged at Ye Tianci again.
"Get lost!" Ye Tianci kicked out coldly. He was so fast that Zhong Shaokun couldn't even attempt to dodge.
"Agh!"
Zhong Shaokun howled as he crashed to the ground, rolling several times before scrambling up in terror, no longer daring to charge.
"Young Master of the Lingjiang Martial Arts Hall, I have already given you enough face. If you continue to overestimate yourself, those people lying outside will be your fate," Ye Tianci said coldly. He hadn't used his full strength; otherwise, Zhong Shaokun would have had his limbs shattered long ago.
Zhong Shaokun swallowed hard, his eyes filled with fear. He dared not approach again, but couldn't resist a final threat. "Since you know I am the young master of the Lingjiang Martial Arts Hall, you still dare to offend me? I will make you regret ever being born!"
"What do you want to do?" Ye Tianci's gaze grew increasingly frigid. The more face he gave the other, the more arrogant they became. It seemed he had to teach him a lesson in pain.
Sensing the murderous intent in Ye Tianci's eyes, Zhong Shaokun actually lost his nerve. He limped toward the exit. "My father will settle this with you."
"Shaokun, don't leave!" Zhao Qinglong cried out in panic.
"Uncle, I can't help you with this. A wise man doesn't fight when the odds are against him. I'm going back to find my father—you should go find yours, too."
Zhong Shaokun tucked his tail between his legs and fled in disgrace. Zhao Qinglong felt like crying; he wanted to find his father too, but his father had been dead for over a dozen years!
