Chapter 24 The Order to Leave
Their family had calculated everything perfectly.
According to the Lin family rules, whoever signed a contract would receive a 1% bonus.
If Liang Xianrong invested a hundred million with the Lin family and Lin Weiwei signed the contract, she would pocket a million as her bonus!
Everyone in their family would get a handsome share.
The rest of the Lin clan understood this as well, but none dared to speak out.
During Lin Daonan’s illness, Lin Changren, the eldest son, had already become the de facto head of the Lin family; everything was decided by his word.
Night soon fell.
Several tables were set up in the Lin family courtyard for a celebration banquet.
There was revelry and extravagance, singing and dancing.
The Lin family indulged themselves with great pleasure, only quieting down late into the night.
The next day.
After breakfast, Lin Weiwei called her boyfriend, Chen Kai.
Chen Kai was also from a wealthy family, with even greater influence than the Lin family.
He drove his father’s Maybach to make a show of status and took Lin Weiwei to Dongliang Group.
At the same time, Lin Qingqian and Ye Tianci were having breakfast at a small shop near the entrance to their neighborhood.
Zheng Mei had gone out to play mahjong the previous afternoon and hadn’t returned all night, so the whole family had enjoyed a rare peace.
After breakfast, they set out by car, with Ye Tianci accompanying Lin Qingqian to Dongliang Group.
“I suddenly have a bad feeling. What if Uncle and his family go to Dongliang Group to snatch the contract?” Lin Qingqian said.
Ye Tianci replied calmly, “You were the one who negotiated with Liang Xianrong. No matter how shameless your uncle’s family is, they wouldn’t sink that low, would they?”
“That’s true,” Lin Qingqian nodded, driving with hopeful anticipation.
A dozen minutes later, Lin Qingqian and Ye Tianci walked into Dongliang Group.
After explaining their purpose, the receptionist, with a strange look, led them to the general manager’s office.
The night Gao Hongqiang was sent to Beiliang to work in the coal mines, Liang Xianrong had appointed his eldest son, Liang Feng, as Dongliang Group’s new general manager.
Liang Feng had no real ability; his only virtue was his appetite for women.
In the office, Liang Feng lounged on the sofa, leering as he spoke with Lin Weiwei.
The two sat very close; Liang Feng’s hand rested on Lin Weiwei’s thigh.
When someone suddenly entered, Liang Feng’s face darkened in anger, but then his gaze landed on the stunning Lin Qingqian, and his beady eyes instantly lit up!
Lin Qingqian, seeing Lin Weiwei, asked in puzzlement, “Weiwei, what are you doing here?”
Lin Weiwei stood up unhurriedly, folding her arms across her chest, her expression proud and haughty. “I’m here to sign the investment contract.”
---
Lin Qingqian frowned. “I was the one who negotiated the investment contract with the Liang family. Why are you signing it?”
“Hah!” Lin Weiwei rolled her eyes and scoffed, “Lin Qingqian, aren’t you embarrassed to say that?”
“Liang Xianrong agreed to invest because he believes in our Lin family’s West Mountain Resort project, because he values the Lin family’s strength. What does that have to do with you?”
“Besides, Liang Xianrong is just a hands-off boss. The general manager of Dongliang Group is my dear brother, Liang Feng. Who signs the contract is up to my brother.”
“Isn’t that right, Brother Liang Feng?” Lin Weiwei’s voice was coquettish, and as she spoke, she deliberately brushed her chest against Liang Feng’s arm.
Liang Feng’s eyes glowed green with desire, unable to resist her charms.
Though Lin Qingqian was far more beautiful than Lin Weiwei, the latter was a natural flirt—her beguiling eyes, her serpentine waist, the type of seductive fox who seemed easy to win over.
Besides, he’d already taken some liberties just now.
Liang Feng immediately put on a stern face. “You’re all Lin family. It doesn’t matter who signs. Let’s keep it simple—first come, first served!”
“Miss Weiwei arrived first, so she’ll sign the contract. You two may leave now.”
“See them out!” Liang Feng ordered.
Lin Qingqian and Ye Tianci were shown the door.
Down in the parking lot, Lin Qingqian’s eyes turned slightly red. “How could Uncle’s family do this! It’s just bullying!”
Ye Tianci comforted her, “You made this happen. The credit is yours, and no one can take it from you.”
“Don’t be upset. Let me handle this.”
He took out his phone and sent a message to Liang Xianrong.
In less than a minute, Liang Xianrong called back. “Mr. Ye, please don’t worry. I promise you and your fiancée a satisfactory resolution!”
“If a contract is to be signed with the Lin family, the only signature on it will be your fiancée, Lin Qingqian!”
After hanging up, Ye Tianci said to Lin Qingqian, “Liang Xianrong said the Liang family will only sign the contract with you.”
“Really?” Lin Qingqian was still a bit skeptical.
“We haven’t known each other long, but have I ever lied to you? Come on, Liang Xianrong will handle it.”
Just as they were about to get in the car, Lin Weiwei walked out of the Dongliang Group building.
Before stepping out, she quickly checked her face in a compact mirror, dabbed her lips with a tissue, and tossed it in the trash.
Lin Weiwei, humming a tune, sashayed over to the two, exuding self-satisfaction.
“Lin Qingqian, I’ve already signed the contract for the Liang family’s investment!” Lin Weiwei flaunted the file folder in her hand, beaming with pride.
---
A faint flush lingered on her cheeks.
Lin Qingqian, her face cold, said, “Weiwei, I never imagined your whole family could be so unscrupulous!”
“Anyway, the contract’s already signed, the bonus is mine, and you can say whatever you like.”
Lin Weiwei laughed gleefully, even more triumphant.
Her boyfriend, Chen Kai, drove up slowly in the Maybach.
“Weiwei, you’ve signed the contract?” Chen Kai called out affectionately from the car window.
Lin Weiwei held up the file folder in a show of victory. “Snagged it without a hitch!”
“Honey, hope you weren’t bored waiting? Thank you for today.”
She leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, displaying her affection.
“As long as you got the contract, I could wait all morning.” Chen Kai smiled, then nodded toward Ye Tianci with curiosity. “Who’s that?”
Lin Weiwei sneered, “That’s Lin Qingqian’s fiancé, Ye Tianci. Who knows what backwater village he crawled out of?”
“He looks so provincial, dreams of marrying above his station, wants to be a son-in-law of our Lin family, but he should take a look in the mirror.”
“Oh, and he’s disabled too—has a bad leg.”
Chen Kai raised an eyebrow and laughed wantonly, “Disabled? For real?”
“Hey, buddy, come on—walk a few steps, let me see for myself!”
Lin Qingqian protectively stepped in front of Ye Tianci, glaring at Chen Kai and Lin Weiwei. “Say another word about Tianci’s leg and I won’t be so polite!”
Feeling her support, Ye Tianci’s heart warmed, and he looked at Chen Kai with a faint smile. “What’s there to see about my walk? One day, when you’re standing on the boundless green plains, take a good look—you’ll get an eyeful then.”
Chen Kai was momentarily stunned. “What do you mean?”
Lin Weiwei hastily slipped into the car, slamming the door behind her. “He’s just crazy, talks nonsense. Don’t mind him. Let’s go, let’s go.”
With that, Chen Kai hit the accelerator and the Maybach roared away.
“We should head back too,” Lin Qingqian said, and she and Ye Tianci left as well.
By the time they returned to the Lin family home, Lin Weiwei and Chen Kai were already there.
Lin Weiwei was basking in her accomplishment, reveling in the praise from her relatives, looking as pleased as spring.
Seeing the two walk into the living room, Lin Weiwei’s pride only grew. “You don’t know, but Qingqian and I arrived at Dongliang Group together. But she and Ye Tianci spoke so poorly that they offended General Manager Liang Feng.”
“President Liang threw them out and signed the contract with me. He even complimented me on my capability!”
