Chapter 092: So, We Know You’re a Wife-Doting Maniac!
Shi Runrun suddenly felt that, after hearing his explanation, her fury from yesterday until now seemed almost like she had been making a scene for no reason at all.
“But... but the fact remains that you kept me waiting at the airport for so long. You still have to apologize to me!”
The young woman bit her lip stubbornly.
The next second, the man laughed. His lips curved as he looked at her with deep, intent eyes, and he gave a low, amused huff. “Didn’t I already apologize to you last night? Not just with words, either, but in a very practical way.”
Shi Runrun: “...”
Ras... rascal!
The moment he brought it up, she remembered again the wild scenes from last night...
Her flushed face grew even hotter.
In the next instant, he reached out and gathered her into his arms, holding her close as he said softly, “Did it hurt last night?”
“...”
“Oh my! Why are you asking me such a thing? Hurry and go downstairs for breakfast! You’ll be late for work!”
But the man still would not let go, coaxing her gently. “I made a point of being very gentle. It definitely didn’t hurt, did it?”
“Old rascal! Hurry downstairs and eat breakfast!”
“Hahaha!”
The man laughed heartily, finally releasing her and no longer teasing her. He turned and went downstairs.
Yet as he walked, he still murmured to himself, “I’m confident. This time, you’ll definitely conceive.”
Shi Runrun: “...”
She lowered her head and looked at her abdomen, laying a gentle hand over it.
Quietly, in her heart, she said: I hope so.
She also hoped she could become pregnant again soon, so that the baby she had lost could return to their side, and so that she could give Grandpa and Grandma an explanation.
When Xiao Xuezheng went downstairs, Sister Li secretly glanced at his handsome features, which were full of pleasure, and happily brought him warm milk and the newspaper.
“Master, you lost so much energy last night, so this morning we’re skipping soy milk and having milk instead, hmm~”
Xiao Xuezheng accepted it, lifting a dark brow at her. A faint flush touched his refined face, though he said nothing. His thin lips, however, curved slightly.
Sister Li covered her mouth and giggled. “Master is definitely in a very good mood today.”
Xiao Xuezheng asked, “What makes you say that?”
Sister Li replied, “Isn’t it obvious? You usually rarely wear a light-colored shirt like this or a pink tie like that. Since you wore them today, it means your mood must be good.”
Hearing that, Xiao Xuezheng’s expression softened as he nodded. The curve of his lips deepened, and then he turned his eyes toward the upstairs landing and said quietly, “Mm. I slept well last night, so I’m in a good mood this morning.”
When Shi Runrun came downstairs, she happened to catch the look he cast upward, and then she heard what he said.
She froze in place, and after grasping the meaning behind his words, her little face reddened again.
At that moment, sharp-eyed Sister Li spotted her on the stairs and waved at her. “Young Madam is down! Come on, come on over! I’ve made you a pot of black-bone chicken and red date soup to nourish your body. You worked so hard last night, so you must be properly fortified! Looks like this soup will have to be prepared every day from now on! Master, you should have some later too!”
Shi Runrun: “...”
Too embarrassed to face anyone, she pitter-pattered back to her room and locked the bedroom door.
So mortifying!
He, he, he... it was all his fault!
The commotion last night had been too great; Sister Li and the others had heard it!
She had no face left to show anyone now!
Downstairs, Xiao Xuezheng watched her hurried little movements and couldn’t help but lift his lips in a smile. He said lightly, “How adorable.”
After breakfast, Xiao Xuezheng rose and walked to the entrance hall to change his shoes.
While he did so, he instructed Sister Li, “Wait until I’ve left before going up to call her. Don’t mention what happened yesterday again. She’s thin-skinned and gets embarrassed easily.”
Hearing this, Sister Li covered her mouth and laughed, saying repeatedly that she understood.
After speaking, he left the inner house, stepped into the courtyard, and headed outside.
The morning air was cool, and the breeze felt wonderfully refreshing.
Once Xiao Xuezheng emerged through the black wrought-iron gate, his secretary Qin Feng immediately got out of the car to greet him, respectfully handing over the briefcase as he said, “Mr. Xiao.”
Xiao Xuezheng nodded, then bent to get into the car. Before doing so, he turned his gaze back toward the bedroom window on the second floor of the villa. Seeing the tiny figure peeking from the window, he curved his brows and gave a faint smile.
Then his tall, slender body lowered into the car.
Qin Feng followed him into the back seat and, while reporting the day’s schedule, instructed the driver to set off.
When they arrived at Guangzheng Group, there was an urgent meeting in the morning, but the man was physically present while his mind had already wandered elsewhere.
Sitting in the seat of honor, he listened to the report on a major new project partnership, yet in his mind he kept replaying the tender, loving scenes from the night before.
At the height of passion, she had said, Xiao Xuezheng, I love you so much...
For ten years, no woman had said to him that she loved him so deeply, had she?
The heart that had lain dead and still for so many years seemed suddenly to stir back to life.
A heartbeat long absent from his awareness now rang out with startling clarity once more.
Xiao Xuezheng pressed his lips together. His Adam’s apple moved, and the hand holding the fountain pen tapped absentmindedly against the conference table.
By then, the vice president had finished his report and was asking for his opinion.
Everyone’s eyes fell on him.
“Mr. Xiao, look at this project. Can we consider signing today?”
The vice president asked respectfully.
Yet the man was still immersed in last night’s beautiful memories and could not pull himself free.
As he thought about them, the corners of his mouth kept lifting.
The others exchanged bewildered looks. Their impeccably rigorous president had never daydreamed during work before.
At that moment, a sharp-eyed department manager at the lower end of the conference room spotted the red love mark on their president’s neck and was instantly shocked. He signaled the others to look at his neck too.
Everyone immediately understood what was going on. So the famously stern Mr. Xiao had been distracted during such an important meeting today because of the president’s wife...
Still, it was a relief that the president seemed to be in a good mood today. At least they probably wouldn’t be scolded again.
When the meeting ended, the man came out of the conference room and headed toward the president’s office.
Behind him followed Qin Feng and a group of secretaries and assistants.
Just before entering, he suddenly stopped and instructed Qin Feng, “Qin Feng, draft a share transfer agreement. Transfer the twenty percent of Guangzheng Group shares under my name to my wife effective immediately. Go handle it now.”
As soon as the words fell, the assistants erupted into murmurs.
Qin Feng was so shocked his jaw nearly dropped. He hurried forward and said with a frown, “Mr. Xiao, the twenty percent of shares under your name are worth several tens of billions. You’re just giving them to Madam for free?”
The man turned his head, glanced at him, and gave a soft snort. “Who said for free?”
In his heart, he added: Madam paid me in flesh.
“I’ve noticed you’ve become rather talkative lately. If you don’t want to be sent on a business trip to Africa, hurry up and get it done!”
Qin Feng: “...”
Fine, fine. You’re the president. You’re the boss.
So you really are a wife-doting maniac.
