Chapter 108: Unforgivable!
“This Flame Spirit was something I struggled mightily to obtain in my lifetime. Unfortunately, even I, at that time, was unable to refine it due to certain circumstances. Reluctantly, I had no choice but to seal it here,” Bai Li Mo’s voice betrayed a trace of regret.
“However, today’s focus is not on it. If you plan to run away like this, I’d be quite troubled. Fortunately, I’ll show you something.”
As his words fell, scorching bubbles of molten lava rose slowly from the magma. Each bubble revealed a scene—images of the others struggling within various formations.
“Qiu Ling!” Yu Dao Yi whispered urgently.
Within one of the bubbles was a girl of about twelve, naturally beautiful with delicate features—none other than Song Qiu Ling. Yet in the scene, she wandered ceaselessly through a desert, seemingly searching for an escape. The scorching sun blazed overhead, warping the space with its intense heat.
Her once rosy lips were parched and cracked; her exquisite face was flushed red from the sun; and her clear eyes were blurred and unfocused. She appeared on the verge of collapse, one misstep away from fainting—and perhaps never waking again.
“Bastard! Let her out!” Yu Dao Yi shouted, attempting to rush forward, but Yu Yun Fan, frowning deeply, held him back firmly. He knew that even though Yu Dao Yi expected such a situation, seeing it firsthand could cause him to lose control.
“Impatient, are we?” Bai Li Mo’s voice remained mocking and playful.
Then a massive bubble slowly rose from the center of the magma. Unlike before, this one did not show anyone trapped in formations; instead, it revealed a scene of carnage.
Corpses littered the ground, blood flowing like rivers, the sky darkened, and light was nearly absent. A blood-red beam enveloped the slaughtered land. The figures in the scene seemed to have lost all reason—swords flashing wildly, eyes bloodshot with fury. Anyone nearby was attacked without hesitation. Yet the image was blurred, obscuring the identities of those involved.
“Master,” Xuan Xin trembled as he stared at a shadowy figure in the scene.
Even the others clenched their teeth, suppressing their anger, painfully aware of their own insignificance and helplessness, like pawns in a game.
“Qiu Ling, Song Cheng, Uncle Song, Eleventh Brother,” Yu Dao Yi murmured, his gaze vacant. Once again, he recalled the words spoken by the vengeful spirit swallowed by the artifact spirit:
“The death trap outside was activated the moment you entered. Guess how long your people can hold out?”
What could he do? What could he do now? He was too weak. The weak could only be manipulated, only become victims on the blade, only watch their loved ones fall.
The weak—powerless to act.
...
“If, if something happens to the two of them because of my slightest mistake or impulsiveness, I will regret it forever. So at that moment, I must stand up—I have to stand up—even if Eleventh Brother is gone, I still should stand up.”
“I can be afraid, I can tremble, but if I retreat thenI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
